Post by nikitka83 » Fri Aug 05, 2011 7:17 pm

Looking forward to cya all in couple of weeks :o :o

I have couple of questions to the mmm veterans.

- What time should I leave Reno to arrive at 12:01?

- Place to camp ( i have an RV ). Closer to the center or further up ?

- Any way to find a list of workshops and dj lineups at the camps ?

- Is it all for real? omg !!

If you want to be closer to the action, camp as close in as you can get.

Check here for events http://playaevents.burningman.com/. There's also an iPhone app for this called "Time to Burn".

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Hey Nikitka,

Reno to BRC is typically two hours, but there's nothing typical about 12:01am. The line from the gate may go back to Gerlach by then.

Nixon, Empire and Gerlach are the tiny towns you will pass through. DO the speed limit! These little towns are the barrels and you are one of the fish. Don't let them catch you. As you get closer and get to the line, plan on waiting in your idling vehicle for awhile. Black Rock City has it's own radio stations, so tune in and get hyped up for your first bike ride round the city.

It is real, but you can keep it a secret if you want. You won't be able to properly describe it anyway.

Happy burn!

Hi Nikitka!

You will receive a What/When/Where Guide and a map when you arrive. Don't camp in the purple areas (they're theme camp areas) or areas marked with foot-high double flags made of wire. When in doubt, ask your neighbors before pulling in. It's a good idea anyway.

Not everything fits in the What/When/Where Guide, so yes, look at the link that Jkisha posted, and at the 2011 Art and Performances forum here on ePlaya.

A funny thing: I look at the W/W/W Guide every year and circle two dozen things . . . and then I might attend just one! The rest of my adventures are all freestyle. But I do love to keep the Guide from each year I attend; it's one of my favorite souvenirs. :)

re: what/where/when the Rockstar Librarian collects and compiles a list of dj sets planned for many different camps. http://rockstarlibrarian.com/

re: where to camp - it really doesn't matter. You can't predict the character of any given neighborhood. I think there are very few predictabilities:
2 and 10 o'clock arms are big sound camps.
Closer to esplanade is often (not always) more lively
Closer to keyhole plazas can also be a bit more lively.
Otherwise, find a nice spot and make it home.
