Went to take a quick look at Where are you Camping today to see if a friend's camp was on the map yet, and it appears somebody's been screwing around with the site, dragging camp markers to form an arrow in the open playa. This is why we can't have nice things!

Yes, I was sad to see the markers scattered as well. I'd still like to keep it very easy for people to add and update information on the map, though, so I'm trying to take the Wikipedia-style approach of making it easier to revert bad edits:

1. It's now harder to move a marker by accident while trying to scroll around the map. If you want to move a marker, you have to select it first by clicking on it, and then drag it.

2. I've introduced a history/undo feature. Clicking on the little triangle next to the selected camp will show you a list of all the previous versions of that item, and the previous positions will be marked on the map as "ghost" dots. You can revert to any previous position by clicking on "revert".

Also there is a search box now that will let you quickly find an existing camp.

I haven't yet heard of any other camps being at 4:30 and C besides ours (Chakralicious Camp). Knowing who your neighbors are if you're a theme camp is a good thing, in terms of sound, power, generator usage, and the like. How do you share resources if you don't know who your neighbors are? That's why I'd like to know more about placement.

Hello snarky e-playa-ers...

I don't know if this is too off-topic, maybe I should have posted a new thread... But has anyone ever had any success with posting events in the WWW and keeping your specific "address" secret? I know it's early still to be thinking of NEXT year, but some folks have been talking about applying for a pretty cool location, having some cool events, but not necessarily posting anything more than "our cool camp" (not the real name, feel free to steal it) into the book...

Any ideas?

I think that the WWW needs a solid location, placed camp or something landmarky like "the man" or "center camp."
