Fake Grass or Astro Turf

Post by illy dilly » Thu Aug 04, 2011 2:43 pm

Hey eplayans,
The Gnome Dome needs a little bit of help with bring some of our last decorations together. We're looking for more fake grass carpet. You know the super tacky green stuff!
We thought it was going to be cheaper than it really is. We did a piss poor job planning this part!
We are looking for new or used scrap or large pieces of the fake green grass for our Gnome Garden. We have a little bit right now, but need more!
If any one has some extra lying around or knows where to get some for cheap in CO, WY, or NE or any where along I80 between Denver and BRC please let me know!

We'd like to have it with us before we enter BRC. Trying to track folks down and haul big rolls of fake green grass around the playa would be really tough Also, if the grass is brand new, it needs to be rolled out and abused a little before it hits playa, other wise those little bits of green scrap will MOOP all over.

If ya'll have any leads on this fake grass please let me know!

Helps to edge it, too - I tape the sides of any carpet/groundcover to prevent the little bits.

Good luck!

Hey action girl, now that you've blessed us with your presence, why not take a minute and delete some of those spammer accounts while you're at it?

Actiongirl, thanks for the tips!

But here I thought I had a lead on where to score some fake grass.
Thanks a lot Jkisha, I was really hoping you chimed in with some great wisdom on where to score this shit.

Many party/event/wedding rental places have that - to rent or to buy surplus.

I have never seen any of that fake stuff NOT be moopy as all hell, regardless of age or time in service. We don't allow it in our village at all because it's impossible to make moop free.
Suck it.

Yeah.. AstroTurf is a nono. Moop factor x10. Someone in our camp brought it last year and it was a disaster.

It will be purely ornamental. Not actually walked on. Part of our "Gnome Garden".
I figure we'll roll some out this weekend, let it bake in the sun, then screw with it and see how it does.
If its a total miserable fail, we'll have to use green "Farm's Tarps" but that really wont give the right look.

Direct sun in 20% humidity or less for a week. I suggest your roof.

Thats a very good idea!
Luckly in CO we're even closer to the sun both in longitude(only a little bit) and altitude, so if it can hold up to the UV in Denver, it can hold up to the UV on Playa.
Though, you never know what sort of humidity you will have here.
