Re: Rest In Peace
Dallas Erickson - who passed away less than an hour ago....
I first met Dallas when he was my elementary school principal when I moved to the Missouri Ozarks in 2nd grade.
He ended up marrying into my family...and was well loved by many.
I've met many men over the years...but only a small handful that always conducted themselves with class and the utmost professionalism at all times.
Dallas was such a man...a role model and inspiration.
They don't make 'em like him anymore.
Godspeed my friend. And thank you for taking the little boy from the city and looking out for me when times were so rough.
This one's a bitch to take....and not being taken very well.
******************************************************
He developed Alzheimer's in later years...and a couple of days ago he apparently put paint thinner in the fridge, then went back to get some water and drank the paint thinner. For reasons nobody's explaining he was kept in bed overnight as his condition got worse...before the paramedics were called in the morning. They transported him by ground to a local hospital an hour away, then realized how bad things were and flew him to Springfield, MO....and despite being in the best hands possible the damage was done.
I wish I could understand....but I don't. I just don't.

(((((Kenetic V))))), my heart goes out to you and your family. Losing someone so special is very hard to comprehend. You were so lucky to have him in your life. And as you said, Godspeed Dallas.
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Hard to lose someone who made such a huge change in ones life. Especially when it's such a strange way to go.
My heart goes out to you hon...
(BTW, Almost lost the friend who taught me striping the same way - he had a cuppa next to him while working on some pinstriping on the wheels of an old car, and grabbed the olive bottle of acetone he had just taken the striping brush out of instead, took a good slug of the stuff... took him a few months to recover.)

Re: Rest In Peace
My summer started off with a friend of mine blowing his brains out...
I've actually looked at this thread several times since he did it but have been unable to actually post because if I guess it just wasn't really real until I told y'all... Don't ask me why.
Last week another friend died from cancer. So, now I guess it's time to face them both...
Good-bye Jeff Jacobs: I hope you find the peace in death you were unable to find in life. You were loved and never realized how much.
Good-bye Doug Cecil: Cancer took you too soon and too young. Your wit and laughter will be missed.
Thanks for listening.

My sweet husband will be joining me at the temple... in the form of ashes...
not sure if he'd have approved, but it'll help me with a bit of closure.
The rest of him will be brought to Rainbow Bridge, at his request. I promised!!

Yep, my wife disapproved of Burning Man entirely, but that wasn't enough to keep me from honoring her when I returned.Triken wrote:My sweet husband will be joining me at the temple... in the form of ashes...![]()

Ahhh, (((Triken))), I am not trying to be facetious, but remember those deathless lines from The Big Lebowski:
I have told my sons that I want them to wear my ashes home in their greasy beards
by which I hope they understand, that they should do what ever has meaning for them, once I am gone.
The intent is what matters, for the easing of grief.
And then they toss their friend's ashes straight into the wind. And so, Theodore Donald Karabotsos, in accordance with what we think your dying wishes might well have been, we commit your final mortal remains to the bosom of the Pacific Ocean, which you loved so well. Good night, sweet prince.
I have told my sons that I want them to wear my ashes home in their greasy beards
The intent is what matters, for the easing of grief.
