I hate to ask this. I feel like its being hypocritical of me, since I don't want to be that ass hole that shows up early and pisses off BLM or NV State Patrol.
But, if we get to Fernley earlier than planned on Sunday and have time to kill. Would there be anyway to know that gates may have opened early?
Our goal is to get to Fernley around 4pm, dick around at Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and anywhere else for an hour, then head to Gerlach get the water, so it will be about 7pm once we get our water.
At this point would it make more since just to head to BRC and hope gates are open?
In years past we've always left Denver Sunday morning, and spent 24 hours getting to BRC to get in Monday Morning.
This year we are leaving Saturday, so that we have a day to deal with any possible vehicle troubles that might arise (god I hope not).
But if things went really smooth, and we had a tail wind the whole time, or woke up early and got back on the road early Sunday (its gonna be hard to keep the virgins asleep), and got to Fernley at like 2pm. Would we just need to wait there tell 4pm?
If gates opened early, would there be any way to know?

Yes - people will be getting in without early passes. Thats how you know. Are they going to announce a move like that? no - that would only encourage people to come early.
You could bring something to do and pull off on any of the side roads and chill. Cards, pre boozing for the non drivers who knows.

There's another thread on this where someone with some inside knowledge said that there definitely would be a soft opening at 6PM Sunday.

Re: If gates opened early, would there be any way to know?
Thanks guys for the info.
Yeah, I've commented on the "Gates will Definitely open early" thread. The way I see it, gates are supposed to open at mid night. So thats what were shooting for.
But, if gates did open early, and you were in Fernley, SCREW IT, head for BRC. I just wasn't sure if there would be a way to know.
I guess you would just have to drive out there, and if you ended up in line, gates were open. If you get sent to D lot, gates aren't open.

Figjam, you should go to the Walmart in Fernley and hang out! There is always a lot of Burners there! And since every Walmart lets you "camp out" for a night, you wouldn't be loitering!FigJam wrote:I'll be at the Love's truck stop in Fernley and when I see the parade start I'll join it.

That depends on the desert, and the tree.Ugly Dougly wrote:If a tree fell in the desert, would anyone hear it?
