how do you feel when youre driving onto the playa

you know when you first start to see all the dust in the distance and you know youre only a stones throw from the event
how do you feel?

i cant really describe it, its not like excited in the typical sense, and its not nervous or apprehensive in the typical sense either. but it is a mixture of both, sort of

at the moment as i sit at my desk in work, i am reflecting on how i felt on previous arrivals to the playa and im starting to feel that feeling a little bit again, in my stomach. its a sort of anxious feeling of fear but also with a little bit of excitement trying to break through, its almost as if i am trying to contain the excitement so that i dont build it up too much.

very hard to put into words... hmmm

I remember the first year I went. It was late at night/early morning. The playa hadn't populated yet, and as I stepped out of my car I felt I was Neil Armstrong. Suddenly I was in an unreal, flat expanse of desert where anything could happen. And it did.

My virgin year I couldn't stop smiling. Then I couldn't quit wiggling. Thne my legs went numb with the pressure I was crossing my legs.

I'd been holding my bladder for over 6 hours... When I was within sight of a porta potty, I calmly let myself out of the vehicle and did my business. No one said anything to me or gave me a second glance. After I got back into the car I then realized I was able to get IN without a ticket and that was a pretty big deal.
