Re: Anti M's Home for Wayward Art 2011
Thank you for the bump!
I finally sorted the bin of my father's photos. Some are matte mounted, they were his submissions either to his class or to his club, some are board mounted, a few are loose. He started photography in high school before WWII, and kept shooting until about a year before he passed away. These are an odd, eclectic selection, but each holds memories for me. I just don't have room for them, and none of the family seems to want any of them. So wayward art they are.
I also dug out my blank canvases, odd paintings and art, a bag of postcards, prints, and raw materials. Photos from the 40s~60s of people I don't know. Sheesh.
This will yield a minimum of 50~100 pieces. I need matte board and adhesive dots!

I have some old photos from my high school photography classes. I'd love to bring them and find them a home.
Gotta find them first, though!

God Please, don't make me make myself look like a moron...

That would be terrific! Even better if they're mounted somehow. Doesn't need to be fancy, just so they hold up in the wind, a bit of cardboard would do. Wayward art needs to be tough to survive.

Re: Anti M's Home for Wayward Art 2011
Picked up matte boards, adhesive squares and my index cards today. I have random art and sketches which need to be sturdier than they are in their current state.
I need black paper tape, but I don't think they make it anymore.

Completed ten small paintings today, with at least ten more on deck (started, in progress), and a dozen more in mind. Tomorrow may be all Godzilla, all day.

Re: Anti M's Home for Wayward Art 2011
Got the art adoption cards from previous years (09, 10) into an album. I know darn well people take art home without bothering with filling out a card. Makes me a little sad, as it is so much fun to read the comments. Always amused at people who put "unknown" for name of tart, I know each piece doesn't have a title, but it would be nice to know if "love the cosmic colors which speak to my soul" was at least a painting or a bracelet or a pile of shit.

That's one of those eternal questions that don't get answered, I fear.

I promise to fill out a card. To not do so would be rude.

Has anyone ever filled out cards for art they didn't take?

Yes, at least a couple each year. Even though I have signs posted explaining the concept, both short and long form in two places, some think the point is to comment on the art, like it is a viewing gallery. I get cards saying, "I'd love to take this home". ARGH. TAKE IT! Others think they come back for the art at the end of the week. Yeah, no, that never works out.
Others start a card with the name of the art they are donating, but that rarely works as the card gets separated from the art, or people think the piece is spoken for.
Re: Anti M's Home for Wayward Art 2011
I really enjoyed this little camp! We rode by it at least once a day to check out the new stuff. Me and my boy got a painting of the Man and I grabbed a sketchbook that I dedicated to playa use.
I donated a piece of art of my own by just clipping it to the fence, I hope that was the right procedure.

we will all die so gloriously that ever having lived will seem like folly.

Yes, and thank you!
The Home did wonderfully well, I am indebted to those who helped and donated, especially Ancient Burner and Fishy, who brought tons of very wayward art.

I found another box of it when I got home. I must stop packing in a hurry.
