Chafing between the thighs...
Chafing between the thighs...
Other than wearing bicycle shorts under one's clothing, how can a person not get chafing while out on the playa? You know...that rubbing together of one's thighs and then it gets all sore, red, and feels like your thighs are on fire??!!

Skorts are the answer!
I wore a skirt ONE day and one day only, after that I broke out the stash of skorts I brought. I'm not a fan of underwear in the heat, but the dust demands underwear, fishnets and the great coverage of shorts under your skirt.
That and if you're a prude, the skort helps to keep your naughty bits hidden

Negative, I am a meat popsicle
I don't know what is in gold bon, but I do know that studies have assertively linked cancer with the application of talcom powder in and around the area of the female genitals. Don't do it girls!
I wear spandex running shorts as underwear at the event. Usually I go commado, but at BM it is a recipe for disaster to me.

When i was doing my army duty they used to give us this powder called Fungimon and an ointment called Agisten that contained Aloe Vera.
Worked like charm.
oh and my day to day underwear look alot like those spandex bikers panties, but i just felt like walking with no undies at all, especially when wearing the Gualabia (Bedouin long undergarment)

cortizone cream
Cortizone cream works wonders on chaffing especially when that turns into heat rash. Good for pretty much all rashes & also poison oak/ivy. Powder if you can though.
If I had to reduce my monster 1st aid kit to the 4 things I use the most for large events it would be moleskin for blisters & cracked feet, gookinaid for dehydration/altitude sickness/generally feeling like crap/hangover, bacitracin for cuts and burns, and cortizone cream for rashes.
http://www.gookinaid.com/ gookinaid really is amazing as the closest thing I have ever found to a drinkable iv. I spend 3-4 weeks each summer at large scale multi day events and this stuff has brought many people back to life and quickly.

Instead of bicycle shorts, you could wear those cute boy undies, like these: http://www.henryandjune.com/hj/assets/p ... j/4554.jpg

I'm happy to say that this was the first year I avoided chaffing. I took precautions though, which included a prescription for Tylenol 3s, and Gold Bond. I used Gold Bond about 4 times a day, and rode my bike whenever possible. I think the bike cut down on chaffing the most though, so this is the route I suggest, though it does cut down a little on interactions.
Old Stripper Trick
I once dated a guy who's ex-wife was a stripper. All the beauty tips that I got from him alone, made it worth my time.
Since it's sweat that causes the problem, anti-perspirant on the thighs is the trick. I've experimented with different kinds and found that Secret Solid Stick is the schiznit. Don't even try the clear gel kind it doesn't stop the sweating like the solid.

What fun is that?princess strych-9 wrote:and, i might add, has the benefit of not causing cancer.
Seriously, it was my undies that got me day 'fore yesterday. I was helping the family of a burner friend of mine move, and I was mostly on my feet from 09:30 to 19:30, loading a big-ass truck. That sweat dries on the cloth and turns to sandpaper, quick. Same with denim. In fact, one eplayan has seen me at a bit of a low for such a condition...

I know that you're looking to avoid the bike shorts, but this year I bought a pair of shorts made by Underarmour which made the burn for me. Last year I chaffed so badly I had open blisters by the end of the week. This year I wore the shorts under everything I had and came home injury free. The one's Underarmour makes are short enough that they don't show under a short skirt and the material wicks away sweat and is very thin and silky so they're actually nice to wear. Anyway, just a thought.
