Hey everyone!
I've been posting on eplaya for roughly a year and a half (intermittently), but I just realized that I never actually introduced myself.
I'll be going to the burn for my second year this year. I came as a virgin last year with my best friend on a mission to discover what this burning man ethos is all about, and I left definitely understanding why people say "welcome home" when they meet you on playa. Especially for the past few months as the burn has been drawing near, I've been spending a shocking amount of time lurking around eplaya to learn tips, tricks, and bits of advice that I would have never thought to ask about otherwise. Thanks to my eplaya reading, I've identified a shocking number of things that I wouldn't have known otherwise - for example, apparently gorilla tape will melt within a couple of hours in the hot sun, but extreme bi-filament tape will hold up well in the playa heat. Thank goodness I stumbled on that thread, or I would have shown up in a few weeks with dome coverings that would have melted within hours of being mounted on sleeping and shade structures.
I'll be out on the playa with a small group, so we're not bringing any especially impressive pieces of art or other things to contribute. However I am a serious costume creator and will be coming out with far more multicolored dreadlock wigs, tutus, and scrap skirts than I can possibly wear on my own, many of which are intended for sharing/gifting.
To those eplaya frequenters who have answered my questions and just generally posted information gained through years of experience and trial & error, thanks for all that you do to put knowledge out there on the interwebs for newbies like me to learn how to better accomplish radical self-reliance on playa.
Love,

Welcome to the board. Indeed, I recognize your avatar at this point.
(My favorite french word might be pamplemousse, so your nickname is most amusing.)

Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Belated welcome to the boards, then
Don't worry about size or kind of art, do what you can and what makes you happy and others will enjoy it too.

Thanks for the welcome, guys!
@subliminalkick - We're flying out to San Francisco and driving from there. We were able to send our disassembled construction project out via the NYC Container and ship a number of heavy items to a friend in San Fran. Good luck driving from Ohio - that will be quite a road trip!
