Burning Man tattoo
Burning Man tattoo
I have a burning man tattoo and I was wondering how many of y'all have 'em too. I know of two others who have 'em.

Does having a BM scar count? "The kiss of fire" seemed more appropriate.
I've thought about getting a tattoo that looks like the skin is peeling away to cracked playa, but I'm afraid that it wouldnt come out quite the way I hoped.

Should you ever make it to the Bay Area, the brander at the shop where I got my new tattoo is Fakir-trained.JezebelinHell wrote:I'm holding out for a brand, but I can't find anywhere reputable to get one done in Reno.

The theme camp listing for '04 lists a group that seem, from the description, to be doing branding...
Kinda funny that the survey doesn't offer a "not yet, but i intend to get one" option...
My next tat will either be some ivy, or a rendering of the fox from The Little Prince.
Koosh, your new tat looks really good. That's a good spot for it. I always like when a yangyin tat is along a persons' centerline... 'Swhere mine is, but mine's higher up.

I believe Camp Brand Ur Ass will be offering branding...? anyone do this? Safe? Any get infected? I try to keep the burns to a minumum in the desert but am going to try not to puss out this year.
a guy I know just got a BM tatt on his back, looks good but the intent sucks... you can tell he did it to prove how cool he was because he was a burner...
Oh well, see you out there!!! :D

I can't tell you whether or not this is safe because I don't know the branders involved. If anyone is thinking of doing this, I can tell you what I know. Have had two brands by Fakir and have talked with him about this extensively. First avoid the one-strike cattle brands. Supposedly the skin in between a closed area "dies" on humans and this is not good. Multi-stike with small pieces of heated steel is supposed to be the way to go. Or cautery pens are good for detailed brands with closed areas.Grifty McGrift wrote:I believe Camp Brand Ur Ass will be offering branding...? anyone do this? Safe? Any get infected? Brands are much safer than say, piercing on the playa. Cover the wound for the first couple of days and then you should be fine once it scabs up. Rubbing salt, ash and other irritants will help with the scarring. Repeated scab removal is important, but soak the scab first and try to get it off in one piece is possible. Pulling off little bits can lead to infection. (This said, I know of one person who almost died from infection after branding because he had a heart condition. So it helps to be in good health.)
Unfortunately Fakir and Cleo have decided not to go to BM this year due to many other obligations. They are going 2005 and will gift The Kiss of Fire, if they can find a camp to host this event. When asking Fakir for branders in Reno and Seattle, he said he didn't know of anyone there he could reccomend. He can only recommend branders who has attended athe Fakir Basic Branding Intensive school. Best bet might be to visit his Body Play website and get more info.
If anyone visits Camp Brand Your Ass, I'd be curious to hear about your experience.

Yeah thanks for that Stormy. I have been lookin into branding for a while and decided to get branded when I am over for BM. I am travelling to San Francisco after the burn and was wondering should I wait till then or try and get one on the playa.

Well I don't want to diss anyone's camp or claim to be an expert on branding. But I guess I can email the camp that is doing this. Based on what they tell me, I can tell you whether or not I would do it there or wait to have it done in SF.dougaldutch wrote:Yeah thanks for that Stormy. Thanks for posting that dear. I emailed the contact person from Brand Your Ass and that's what she said. I ran into someone on the playa a couple of years ago who had made the cattle type brand on his arm and he didn't have any complaints about it. However, from what I've been told it's better to have the multi-strike kind from someone experienced. Greatly reduces your chances of anything going wrong.TheJudge wrote:FYI, Camp Brand Your Ass is only doing ink stamps, not real branding.
If you can make it to the Bay Area, I'd contact Fakir and see if he can do one or can recommend you to one of his former students. If you're willing to take a gamble, he should be gifting The Man brands in 2005. I will try and get more organized for that and see about hosting a place for that to take place. Remember it takes time to do the multi-strike brands so there are only so many he can do in a night.
