Best Star Trek Characters

Post by lemur » Tue Aug 16, 2011 2:30 am

Ok..

now this might seem crazy.

But I think that Robert Picardo, the Doctor from Voyager, is clearly the best star trek character..

now, i really like how well developed Chief Obrien and Worf got with their time on Deep Space 9..

but picardo sticks out for me.

he plays the star trek techno babble well.. and he does it with the campy self aware humor that makes star trek good (at times)

....anyways

robert picardo.. ..

I love Robert Picardo from Stargate Atlantis!

I do adore me a little Quark, though. Enough so we went to Quark's Bar when it was open in Vegas. That was fun.

In high school, my brother was called Spock. This was back when the show was on in prime time. He had the hair cut and was nerdy, and he went with it. When going through the papers in dad's house, I found an old program from Larry's high school play (my brother Larry, not MyLarry). Indeed, he was credited as "Spock Castle".

We are the Borg. You will be assimilated. Your biological and technological distinctiveness will be added to our own. Resistance is futile.

I never spotted Yvonne Craig on star trek.

I'm sure I see her dancing in Head.
That film is full of cameos, including Divine, or a lookalike.
Very hip for 68.

I interviewed Roddenberry once.
Hope I can find the tapes.
He would count as a favorite character.

I met Shatner when Star Trek was still on.
He was in uniform and looked huge to me.

<3 Star Trek! it's the only thing my older brother would play when we were younger... so there were Barbies on the Enterprise as a compromise, and it was sick.

Khan. When he quoted Moby Dick (as did Piccard... what was it about Starfleet captains and Melville?):

Khan: "To the last, I will grapple with thee... from Hell's heart, I stab at thee! For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee!"

Piccard: "And he piled upon the whale's white hump, the sum of all the rage and hate felt by his whole race. If his chest had been a cannon, he would have shot his heart upon it."

But for SF personnel - I liked Ben Sisko. First ever disenfranchised, "exiled" star fleet commander, shipped to some out of the way hole in the wall.

Yes, the doctor. He's the best of them all. Here is my favorite scene:

What, no votes for Seven of Nine? I'm shocked!

Here are my favorites:

Garak, the Cardassian Tailor (slash Spy) from DS9, cause you never really knew which side he was playing. Still don't know, really.
Leeta, the dabo girl from Quarks. She is cute and she dates the underdog. Gotta love her for that.
Lieutenant Commander Data, cause Brent Spiner really brought out the nuances and showed a lot of change in the character over the seasons. And he is funny.
And yes, Seven of Nine, cause she is always cool and unintentionally hillarious. And hot. She's like the hot sister that Spock never had.

Favorite Data moment (among many): The poker game in San Francisco in 1893 from Times Arrow. Can't find a clip of that on youTube. So sad.

The doctor is pretty hep.

Much more was implied about Guinan than was revealed ... so far.

From Q

"'Guinan' – is that your name now?"

Q says she is not what she appears to be.

Didn't he refer to her as a 'dangerous creature' at one point?

He offered to remove her from the ship, and she moved to defend herself, without a weapon, suggesting she could.

The rest of the story ...

Q was so good at acting they could only use him sparingly so as not to totally embarrass everyone on camera..

How many king do you know who also are Trekkies?
Image

King Abdullah II of Jordan is a major trekkie. Since he is not a member of SAG, he cant have any speaking parts, but you will find him in various scenes as a quiet extra.
