When I found out none of my campmates we're going to be able to attend this year, I wavered a bit and considered selling my ticket and holding off on returning home 'till next year. Now that we are t-minus 2 weeks and counting, I am thrilled I stuck with it and decided to go solo.

No. I doubt that there ever really was such a thing as love, and have long since learned the foolishness of giving to those who've shown no appreciation, even if I am supposed to pretend to believe that to do so would be virtuous. People only value that which they've had to earn. What makes sense is giving somebody a little consideration, and seeing if it is returned. If so, one can then show a little more consideration. If not, and the failure to reciprocate becomes part of a persistent pattern of behavior, one turns one's back on the ingrate, and moves on.

TPBM didn't get a ticket this year. This wasn't because of procrastination, but because of a desire to be prepared to deal with possible financial problems in the year to come.

No, no funk. Nothing of significance has happened, lately, so I've had no reason to feel better or worse, though the yearly event does remind me of how trapped I am by my current circumstances. I am, however, not depressed by those circumstances. I am angered by them, in a detached sort of way, and have resolved to stop letting misplaced loyalties get in the way of my efforts to clear away obstacles that never had a good reason to exist, in the first place.

TPBM came up with the finishing touches on what she's bringing out to the Playa, just in time to avoid feeling that she had to rush to get everything done.

Er, wrong gender*, and the not buying a ticket because of financial concerns most definitely applies to me. And work is most definitely making me rush! (I'd complain about it under the "FUCK!" thread, but other folks have bigger problems there these days.)
