laptop during burn week

i have to leave the burn a smidge early this year and go on what is partially a business trip. i'm going to be packing a bag with default-world clothing, and i need to bring my laptop as well. i was hoping to have this bag locked in the trunk of a car all week, but i'm wondering whether the laptop'll get destroyed by the oven-like temperatures in the trunk of a typical un-shaded sedan?

anyone else ever bring their computer with them? where do you keep it? what's a good balance point between protection from the elements and protection from petty snatchers?

I continued on after BM last year and did a bit of traveling afterwards.

I kept the laptop in the vehicle (black).

I'm typing on it now.

If you are worried, take the battery out of the laptop, put it into a zip-lock bag and store it somewhere cooler. No, your tent is not cooler. How about under the ice chest?

I have had batteries go bad from being locked in the truck at BM, so Sick Pup is one lucky dog.

Definitely take the battery out. Insulated bag, throw a cold-pack in there once in a while, should be fine.

I wouldn't keep it in the trunk, with or without the battery. I left my computer locked in the trunk for about an hour to eat lunch in Death Valley and it was never the same again.

I do take my laptop to the playa, but keep it in a locked box on the yurt.

I don't have a trunk but left it under the cargo area with the spare.

Then again this thing has been through the war, outlasted my ex-boss' Toughbook in the fields.

Put your laptop case in one of those blue extra-large Ziplocs and keep it in the coolest place you can.

If the vehicle has a white or silver paint job, and you cover the windows completely with silvered mylar space blankets, the temperature in the car should stay below 100F. The problem with tightly covering the car with a tarp, is that it flaps in the wind and can wear the paint off. You could also bring a wifi smartphone, even with a bluetooth keyboard.
