Good news on the weather here(Reno) a fortnight before it becomes crucial.Currently a rolling series of thunderstorms have shown up.The kind we have once a month or so.The kind that might be overdue August 28th-Sept6th.
Odds have now improved for a quality week of weather.Offering 3/2 now that we avoid the kind of storm that hit in 2000 and a day or so after last years burn.

www.weather.com now was weather for gerlach. funy that, it says thunderstorms, too.

Any actual reports of rain on the playa? I'm hearing it may be incredably dusty out there.

That is the BID price.The ask is $44.13.

And no little rain has been produced from these storms.

More good news.(except for those out there already).Storms continue and tonight got the first "significant" rain.As Reno weather patterns head out to Gerlach I have got to believe the playa will get some moisture out of this.Every little bit helps.

I actually really love thunderstorms on the playa. Granted it makes a big mess of everything...but it feels sooooo good. Then again, I also like to slap on goggles and a mask and go stand in the middle of dust storms, so I'm kinda strange.

Granted, I'm usually one of those nutters standing in the rain as others are scurying for cover. The dust storms however are about as much fun as sex in the sand, great when you are doing it but you spend the next hour trying to get the stuff outa the crack of yer bum. I wear a kilt, what else can I say, I like things tidy under there.

In 2002 we had this amazing sunset duststorm/whiteout that lasted about a half-hour. I was indoors when it started, but I spent the whole thing running around with a bandana around my head and dancing my arse off. Dust storms make me feel ALIVE for some reason.

More good news.Another storm today brought the most substantial rain of the summer.Has been raining for 4 hours and looks like more is on the way.The playa certainly got somewhat soaked today.For those who love the dust storms,not too worry,there will be just a little less to frolic in.

Thank God. And thanks to you too, zoro sings. I really didn't want to do my 'Seattle Rain Dance' too much longer; it can be quite dangerous. Miss a step or two, and look what happened to Florida. Boy, am I embarrassed.
