I'm with ya. Our neighbors in 2009 were Vegans, they invited us over for dinner one night. It was delicious. They cooked up all sorts of really fancy Vegan food. It tore us up! My body was not ready for that much fiber or something.

Vegan I can almost understand. But this new trend of "raw food vegan cuisine" is completely beyond me. I know how to keep produce fresh on the playa, but that's so I can have a salad to put my cold bacon and grated cheese on.

I've had to tamp down the urge to snark to all of the people who are looking for tickets and are citing being a "raw food chef" as one of the reasons that the universe should grant them a ticket.

How come nobody says something like "I know 500 ways to prepare bacon"?

I feel as though the curious preponderance of raw food chefs in the Ticket threads is creating a bias within me. I'm starting to think that people who don't like to prepare cooked foods don't like to prepare for other things as well!

I really want to meet some level-headed, mercilessly prepared, multi-Burn raw food chefs ASAP before it's too late.

I love a raw diet. I'd do it more, if I had the money. I went totally raw for a month, never felt better in my life. My skin completely cleared up, I lost 15lbs in 21 days, that stayed off for about two years.

But, I missed steak and gin.

You can heat food up to...110 degrees? And use heat to dehydrate, for crackers, breads, etc.

So this friend's nephew, we'll call him Bill, Bill is a vegan, traveling on the cheap and knows that there's good free veggie food at the Krishnas if you put up with a little BS. So Bill pulls up one night for a free meal and one of the full-on Krishnas with the saffron robes and the top knot and everything starts to chat him up, looking for a chance to make the Pitch. And Bill listens for a bit, and the Krishna (with the saffron robes and the top knot and everything) says, "Are you used to vegetarian food?" And Bill says, "Yes, as a matter of fact, I'm a vegan." Krishna's never heard of that so he asks, "What's a vegan?" and Bill explains to the Krishna (with the saffron robes and the top knot and everything) that not only does he not eat meat but he doesn't eat other animal products either.

I'm really not trying to knock how other people eat. I am a gluten-free, lactose-intolerant omnivore. My body limits the foods I can consume on it's own, so the idea of choosing not to eat an entire family of food just because you want to is foreign to me. Not knocking it, just don't understand it.

And are vegan raw-food chefs in great demand on the playa? There seem to be several people in the tickets thread that are using that skill as a selling point.

Or are they just that much less prepared than the rest of us?

Back to vegans real quick. I'm a chef in default so I have to taste foods but will not go over 5 percent non-veggie.RobbiDobbs grows over half our food on property and since I have Known her my blood pressure is down from 205 over125 to 115 over 75 most days. cholesterol. also dropped to below normal. The reason for raw foods is "live enzymes that are completely processed by your body. Microwaves kill a huge amount of those and you are now eating for entertainment. I will still eat someones butt if I have to but I make it as rare as possible. End rant
