Electrical systems, AC & DC 100% done and tested perfect. Plumbing test this morning. Benches back in. Deep cycle battery installed and secured. Air conditioner hums along beautifully.
Got the EU2000i! Got the Companion model (a model for my desert companion, sweet!). Talked the dealer down from $1175 to $1025 and got him to throw in a charging cord and spare spark plug for free.

and, since I got the ue2K, also........they can hook up to make "big power" if necessary!!

re: the shiny tires, they are made with a reflective design, and the camera flash really makes them shine. company called sweetskins, I have a flamey one on the front tire. Unfortunately, the playa robs them immediately of most of their shiny and their color.

fishy, you'd like my fish friend, I'm bringing him/her? as my camp pet.

The trailer is done but for a few fiddly bits.
Today I installed a new shower faucet valve assembly with new hose and showerhead, caulked out the last seam in the shower, Installed / repaired 3 interior lights (2 incandescent, 1 fluorescent) as well as installing a porch light and switch (a weapons console flip-cover shrouded switch), repaired the propane regulator, fabricated a dual propane tank mount, fixed the aluminum threshhold, adjusted the door, installed the bed cushions, flushed and sanitized the plumbing, repaired two window seals, and cleaned out all the parts / tools / catalogs / ammunition / firearms from it.
Now I have the next three days to get my shit packed, take the trailer out for sea trials, and finally relax a bit.
I'll be spending Wednesday night at Espressodude & Helga's with Ragabashpup and Mister Five. We'll be leaving for home on Thursday morning at 0:dark-thirty...
I really feel calm. Knowing that the trailer is going to be ready and comfortable relieves a lot of anxiety and pressure.

I was thinking the same thing, first camper trailer I've ever seen with carpeted walls. Sorta reminds me of a van I once owned - but that had shag carpet.

Everything's looking so fantastic! Part of me can't wait to get out there, while another part wishes I had another day to make sure everything gets done.

That said, the weekend was full of progress. I finished all the fabrication work for the structures (airship outpost facade, upper deck shade structure, ladder, side rails for the upper deck, main shade structure, shower structure. We even made our way over to the friendly neighborhood apocalyptic provisioner to stock up on supplies and a few more flip-top bins. This morning was what I think was my last trip over to Tech Shop. I need to make a couple minor adjustments to my bike, and then it's painting and pre-cooking til Thursday, then pack/load/go!

I took the trailer for a spin tonight. 1st time it's been on the road since I've owned it. No more doubts. Li'l Smurfette Kia Sportage) handled it so well! I hit the public scales, weight is perfect, 150lbs tongue weight, 1400lbs gross weight. GW will go up 200lbs or so for the trip. All systems are GO! I repacked the bearings this afternoon and they's a lookin so nice.
Funny thing is that it isn't a burgin. It was out there last year. She can't wait to get home either...

Got some great news from a campmate on a drunken idea that appears to have turned into something... We figured it would be nice to have some kind of pulley mechanism or dumbwaiter set up for the upper deck, so that those upstairs lounging in the shade of the Airship Outpost could more easily get beverage service. Seemed like an appropriate level of ridiculousness for our camp, but I certainly didn't have time to figure out anything. Fortunately, one of our campmates is well versed in pulleys and things, and he translated drunken rambles and bar napkins into an action plan. Behold - dumbwaiter!

All you folks kick ass. Those projects have been great to see progress!

Got all my water jugs filled today,,, 105 gallons worth. Got most things in bins that were running around loose.

Skylar and Alex arrived tonight at John Wayne Airport. Was a good time of night so I made good time. 210 miles round trip with about 45 minutes wait at the airport. There and back in 4 hours. Trish had tuna sammiches ready when we got back at 11. They are twenty-somethings that give me hope for our society's future.

Tommorow the truck gets loaded. Gnite everyone.

Great idea, but the wind might play havoc with your basket - why not use a milk crate in place of the storage tub. That would also make it possible to run 2 fixed lines vertically (think rails) through opposite corners of the crate.

I suspect his pulley system will be fine, it'll be in a fairly protected area (shade structure). If it ends up running into problems we can always swap it out (I imagine there will be a few milk crates in play around our camp).

Damn it. I'm cleaning up the jewelry bench during quiet times, and I looked over at some of the bits lying around & saw the most genius idea for a pendant. Let me just say again: genius! Now I absolutely have to have it done, because its... genius. I need to carve out 2 hours somewhere... (you'll see, my pretties, oh, you'll see...

)

I thought I was done with the bench for now, dammit.

heading for Bodie, CA this Wed. to make a new monument, look old, for the state parks dept.
I'll be taking a flat marker, removing the concrete footing and border, setting it upright into the slotted granite base (dark) on top here, and, that will sit atop the lighter granite larger base section.
And, I made an "off road" hand truck today, for moving them in the soft sand there.
We can't take machinery into the cemetery, so, have to move the materials and stones up a pretty steep hill about 100 feet or so.

haha, and, I have to do it all "period correct" according to the state historian........so, I can't use portland cement in the grout, it has to be lime mortar, and, I have to secure it with lead shims.
But, they want me to bolt the two bases together, using stainless steel bolts........I said: WTF? can't use portland cement, but, I am required to use stainless steel bolts?......

ah, state bureaucracy.......

I prefer Oregon's. When they're broke they don't try as hard to dive in the red. Why I remember in the 1990;s when they actually laid off 110 state troopers, most from traffic operations. They warned the public that we'd face these cuts unless taxes were raised. Needless to say, the tax measures failed at the ballot box...
