I hear tell that you can have things shipped to a UPS store, so if you buy something online you can probably have it UPS'd to a store near where you are landing. There is also a service called "kinek" (www.kinek.com) that will broker packages for you. I'm having mine shipped to a small, private broker in washington where I can pick it up on my way down (also too late for me to have it shipped to me directly).Raymaker wrote:Thanks for the reply, was looking at the Kodak Playsport zx5, found it at a great price £98.00 but too late to get it delivered, so I may look when I arrive in the US.

Weird, it looks like my post never got posted... yesterday I built my 12v power setup. I'm just going outside now to hook it up to the solar panel and make sure it all works.

Nice! Very fancy. We basically have a battery in a milk crate with the inverter alligator clipped to it.
Re: One Item for BM a Day
Tent: mesh sewn over, and ready to be packed with other shelter supplies
Dreadlocks: near/at completion, maybe will do a couple more in my spare time
Bike: Fun fur and ribbon completely attached, EL wire completely attached, spoke lights attached but still need to be zip-tied in place for extra security
Packing: Starting boxing up toiletries, goggles, blinkies, and random camp stuff. Clothing immediately gets thrown in a duffle bag throughout the day whenever I see something I want to take with me.
Buying: most random things I need have been purchased, except I now need more masks cause the bag of 10 new ones left over from last year disappeared into the Bermuda Triangle that is our house.
It was a busy weekend.

I got my US girlfriend to check the US Amazon website for me, found one for $102 and time for it to be delivered to her. That's £30 cheaper than i can buy in the UK, nearly £90 cheaper if i bought from a store here in London. Yay!melodiousdirge wrote:I hear tell that you can have things shipped to a UPS store, so if you buy something online you can probably have it UPS'd to a store near where you are landing. Re: One Item for BM a Day
A monsoon prevented the test loading of the car. Hours of torrential rain blowing horizontally the length of the 20' costco carport we have over our patio.
Finished sorting clothes / costumes into vacum bags separated by drive to / on playa / drive home. Can't believe how much space 16 days worth of clothes for 3 people takes up, but with the vacum bags I hope to fit them all into the large cooler for the ride.
Sorted out our tent and sleeping bags. Packed the solar lights and put a strip of paper on the battery terminal with a full charge so they will be ready to go on arrival. Put fresh batteries in all the bicycle lights. Tested our personal headlamps and hydration bladders.
Looking at the weather forcast it looks like I may not even get to wear that playa coat I slaved over the sewing machine making, although I am bringing it just in case. 50 - 60 degree low temps is barely even long sleeve shirt weather.

FINALLY get to assemble the monkey hut after days of delay on getting all the parts. My hitch gets installed today. BTW Uhaul is squirrelly. After getting 2 emails with the online confirmation in 2 different locations, spending 15 mins on the phone the other day to change it, they still didn't have a reservation for me today. I sure don't need stressors lime this at these last few minutes. Grrrrrr.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Hey! I'm packed! IT ALL FITS!!
...they will never let me try to check this stuffed turkey deadweight of a suitcase.
Remove stuff. A white sundress on the playa? I guess I don't need it. Guess I'll have to wear the boots and be warm. So, I got it to a manageable size. I think next year I might as well check a bag (though hopefully I will be in San Francisco and not flying).
Cleaned the kitchen and bathroom spic and span, tonight = all the trash out, fresh litter box, piddling about tidying for a nice home to come back to. Hopefully going to the library to torrent some stuff to watch on the journey. Good thing I'm used to sitting still for long hours at a time, watching movies.
(really boring awful job)
Today I am doing some handsewing at work - my very last sewing project was going AMAZING, better than I could have asked for or thought of....until the very last part.
Making a list via my blog comments of where people are, to visit.
Paying bills - don't forget to take care of bills!!

I bought a bottle of yummy looking hard cider when I was home in OR for those non-beer drinking folks. Going to bring it to the MnG.

As long as I can get my clothes in the one tub that has the ajar mismatched cover, and I can get food/drinks/water and an overnight bag in the front seat area, ,a little hole in the back, another behind the driver's seat and another on the side I should be good to go. The bungees/lock/chain are on the passenger door and the bike rack on the rear passenger side, they'll go on the back in Reno.

My absolute, best, sisterly friend, who...well, helps me want to live that I met at my first burn has officially had her ticket lost by the U.S. Postal Service. She's got everything (ride, camp, hotel, etc.) except a ticket - she's a veteran burner of years who does huge food camps (Intergalactic House of Pancakes) but this was to be her first Burning Man. If you've looked at any of my FB pics (if we're friends) you've seen her. The tall one I do...well, everything with!

Conducted business with the DMV.
Bought 18 pieces of plexiglass, two I had mismeasured, and one I didn't measure at all.
Bought pants, but that's incidental.
