Whatever you do, don't think the heat from the furnace is enough in the cold of a NY winter.

Oh, I also filled my windshield wiper fluid reservoir today.

Dropped off T-Rex (our rabbit) at his baby sitter.
Cut a couple 2 bys to put under the cooler.
Painted up some ashtray tins.
Decorated our bike baskets.
Packed up the tools.
Stripped excess packaging off everything.
Ran through our checklist again.
Compared our checklist to the one posted in another thread to see if there was anything we might need to add.
Piled everything to be loaded tonight next to the door.
Woke up early to make that 3 AM wakeup tomorrow less painful.

Clothes and camping stuff are 90% packed. Packed an airtight post-playa bag that will stay in the car.
Bathroom bag is packed and overstocked with girl supplies.
Picked up 1-ply TP, another tent fan, another tote box, a combination bike lock, discovered I still have a few more "last things" to get.
Learned to tie a shemagh.
Tested tent and air mattress, they seem fine but who knows? I feel quite out of my element when it comes to estimating playa conditions. Tent shade structure (lean-to) should be good to go, but again I have no idea if it will actually hold up or not  There's only so much internet research that will help, I guess at some point you just have to get out there with what you have and see what happens.
De-mooped comfy thrift store mukluks by brushing out any fur that might shed. Laundry is DONE.
Hair is marinating in pink dye and will be for the next 4 hours until I have to get ready for work, waxing appointment tomorrow, found some sparkly nail decals that should last a couple days at least.
Feels like I'm forgetting something...

Still have to pick up 2 more rebar stakes and extra batteries, pack my toiletries, renew my prescription, put some lights on my bike and (the things I've been avoiding) ensure everything is set for when I get back to work and clean the house. Ugh.

C.f.M. I hope your friend can get something figured out :(

I rechecked my hotel reservations, dates, bed bug updates and prices. One reservation had higher prices now than when I booked, two were the same and one had lower rates. I canceled and re-reserved the SLC stay. I'm not going to retire on the difference but it's the equivalent of c. 160 miles of gas money, I'll take it for 2 minutes of my time. At this stage I'm winging it on my way back in terms of route and where I'm crashing.

I picked up some snacks for the ride, Mijou nuts (think salty beer nuts), wasabi peas and spicy almonds, as well as some sandwich fixings. I'm only making brief restroom stops between NY and CHI. I also grabbed a 12 pack of Coke and a case of liter water bottles, I don't normally drink soda but I don't do coffee and I'll need the caffeine.

I bought the bulk of key components of my playa ensembles today. They all have pockets and they're each a different color!!! I already have shorts.

Got word that the NYC container hit Reno today, should be on the playa tomorrow giving me pause as to whether I should have bought more space and sent more stuff on ahead.

Only two more lay downs before I hit the road.... stoked.

Packed the car tonight. Had to run to REI for a rooftop carrier to fit it all in (so much for our gas mileage).

6 hours 23 minutes left on the countdown.

See you in the dust.

I am packed and leaving tomorrow. So happy! I will be at the Sands Regency 8/28 Sunday night. Hope to run into a few burners there. If you want my cell PM me. I am staying at Circus Circus afterwards 9/5-9/7 because the room rate was only $39 per night. For those of you still needing to crash after the burn, check it out online. It was a good deal.

I am camping with Tren Way Bike Camp located somewhere in Gigsville, 230 and Funeral roughly. Stop by and visit any time!

Yesterday I felt like I got somewhere! Shipped 50 lbs of gear to our friends in CA, finished attaching fur to coat, missing 12v batteries showed up in mail and are now charged to power bike light system. Today I lay out clothes and carry-on gear. Tomorrow I prepare for a wedding in NH which will take me to Sunday... after which I rush home to Boston, grab gear and jump a flight to CA. Drive commences in 5 days & 12 hours. I just hope team Cali has the food and Yurt under control!

Finalized the camp layout (note: googlesketup is cool...once you learn how to use it. D'oh!)

Made yarn falls so I can have my real hair tied up more often than not and still have long locks :)

Began grouping all my lists to make the final pocketmod document!!

I thought you were serving American Kraft Singles on Burning Man tickets and skipping the cheap crackers?

These aren't just any old crackers--they're Sparklepony Crackers. To flesh out the burningman tickets. In case a 144 isn't enough.

No. The more you have the more you'll lose? You can always buy some here and donate them to someone when you leave. Does doc keep supplies for his overseas campers? He might have room in the storage.

For those of us challenged by the Queen's English: 'torches' == 'flashlights'
And you can never have too many flashlights, because as was mentioned, you always lose them.

If you can't fit them, small LED "torches" (flashlights) are very very cheap at the local Harbor Freight store in Reno.

Jella, beautiful! great fit! very sparkly.
Tonight, some small little things that need that last tweek, speaker grills, hat battery. Still some major items to manage, but nothing is critical now. I had a nice dinner, and took a little nap after, now I have some time to work, then back to bed for real.

road warriors, keep at it. be safe, and patient.
