People burn in a whole lot of different ways. Many without drugs, or without illicit drugs.

I've never run into the police at, or on my way to, the event. I think most cops are honest people trying to earn a living, help people, and they may well even be in some sort of right livelihood for themselves. I also think that there are profound cultural misunderstandings and that cops tend to be conservative and supporters of the status quo. I also think that our constitutional rights are best protected by everyone, rather than letting some people, on some sort of honor system, be in sole charge of the same.

So, I don't use. But I don't want to let people go through my stuff, either.

That does make a lot of sense if you have been in Times Square, which I have many times. Great analogy.

We talked about the drugs potential today at our weekend cookout, and we will just put a few signs up to make it clear that our camp is a no drugs zone, that should be enough. That and looking out for each other so our vulnerable members don't get lost in the mix.

While we are 100% drug free we all do appreciate the human form.

No need to put up a sign (it would probably just attract LEO attention, not the opposite), just let all your members know your camp is a drug-free. If you see anyone even attempt to light up pot anywhere in your camp, toss 'em (camper or visitor). I've thrown people out of our camp for attempting to smoke pot in our dome (back when we had one)- it's illegal & it sets the whole camp up to be watched. You have a lot of control of your camps "back-space" or private area. You have almost the same control of your public areas, but it's a little more work.

Expecting the visitors to your public space to never be "altered" is probably not going to work. I would just put up humorous signs saying what kind of behavior you want, and don't be afraid to ask people to leave if they cross those boundaries.

I am being overly cautious I know but it is my nature and to deny our natures is to reach for insanity...better I get this stuff said early so it does not bounce around in my head.

There is a camp of old woren out hippies that show up on the playa every year..

They sit out in front of there camp smoking shit and having a great time..

I'll bet they smoke 20% of all the grass that gets to the playa..

You can smell the shit a block away.. Still the law never even looks there way..

It's simple.. They stay in there own zone (pun) and out of sight in plane sight..

Either way the clown look is good...a nice balance of colors which is quite rare...most time clown colors are garish and primary.

Wednesday night, 8:00PM, drove past a fully lit LEO check point at about K and 5:00 with sniffy dogs all busy in 2 burner RVs. Not a good way to start a burn.

Had a late twenties guy with longer than shoulder-length hair "staying" behind my RV last year (2010).
All alone, small quality dome tent, one very small backpack of unknown supplies, no car, bike, etc..
Never saw him eat. Never saw the look one gets when one hasn't eaten and someone else is eating in front of you.
Once he got up for the day, he'd pick a nearby camp he hadn't talked with yet to say hello. Once he'd been to a camp, he'd ignore it from that point on. Felt like it had been "cleared".
Every morning, after being out all night, he'd arrive back to his tent, shortly after breakfast time: fresh clean dust free clothes & hair.
