Crap sinks, fresh activity rises. Not sure why we need a dozen threads stickied in one of the most active areas.

To answer:
Yes, we obviously do. People can't read a single message on the ticket thread telling them how to buy/sell tickets. Maybe one of six will stand out.
Fuck that guy.

In the case of the Q&A threads, I think they all earned their respective places. They weren't always sticky threads, and what happened is that when the dry ice thread (for example) got partway down the page, somebody wouldn't bother to scan that far down the page and then they'd go and start another thread. Moderators would then eventually merge it all together, only to have it happen again fairly regularly. Lather, rinse, repeat. Now that they're sticky threads, the problem happens a lot less frequently.
For what it's worth, it annoys me too.

What might help is to change the sticky icon to something more recognizable and contrasty, or move them into an announcements area above the non-stickied posts so that they are easily avoided and skipped as necessary.

I've got plans to try and re-organize how the Preparation forum works. I'd like to break the big categories into their own subforums, which I believe will not only eliminate the excessive stickiness, but make it easier for people to find what they're looking for and encourage more and better info.

Looks like you've already begun! I like how things are laid out now! and of course, I am a Birgin and did NOT go to 2011 BM so I keep scouring for 2012 stuff already.trilobyte wrote:I've got plans to try and re-organize how the Preparation forum works. Thank you kindly. I'm glad to have finally gotten the Lost & Found boards set up, and in the very near future we'll be making some additional changes.
