That's okay, I've been attending since 2002, and she's gonna be more prepared than I am!illy dilly wrote:O hell, another Virgin that is gonna be more prepared than me!Milayna wrote:So I have been lurking, reading this thread for the last month or so.![]()
Anyway, now that BM 2011 is over, I thought now would be a good time to stop lurking and start posting! 2012 will be my virgin burn, and so far I've started saving money, and (with a lot of help from this thread!) made a lonnnng packing list!
My one thing for today is a trip to the local thrift store, and posting here!
Also, I was curious how all of your stuff (tents, shade structures, costumes, etc) turned out

Started the annual ritual I call "The Ridding of the Dust". I also call it "laundry" and "leaving camp gear out in the rain" and "vacuuming" and "throwing vinegar on everything". The Ridding of the Dust sounds cooler.

Got a radio/cassette player and insulated lunch bag at the thrift store for 3 bucks, then went to Goodwill and got a replacement canvas seat for my directors chair and a clampon worklight for 4 bucks. I continue to search yearround for usable items for the Playa. Bargain hunting is fun...

bought a weird little voodoo doll at a flea market today, probably attach it to my bike basket. Also got 1 michael jackson sparkly glove. I shall use it for pointing out directions.
Oh my god, it's HUGE!

Unpacked the remnants of my pantry box today...considering washing the car tomorrow. While I enjoy being playafied every time I get in and out, the lure of such things is lost among my fellow citizens in the default world. The Default world pretty much sucks btw.

Unzipped the suitcase. Pile of "just put it away" is smaller than laundry. The dust will wear off eventually. Transferred camping shit into Alchemy prep pile. In two week, my magical home burn.

Pack up two totes of med supplies.. Left over from then fucking around with very large wound..
They tried several different ways to bandage/pack the wound.. Each time they would send a new bunch of supplies .
Now I have cases of lap sponges, pressure bandages, long Q tips, tape and saljet saline..
It's all good heavy duty stuff.. I'll gift it to the playa med.

Started laundry. Thinking about building an art bike. Still sleeping 12 hours per night - is that normal??
Most of my projects worked out great. The no-sew tutus were splendid. I didn't like the utility belt I made - too many things clanking around my waist when I went to the potty. I think I prefer wearing a backpack.

WE NEED MORE LED WORK ON THE PLAYA AT NIGHT!!
As we get closer to the burn, I'd love to start helping and encouraging people to ditch the EL wire and generic blinky crap and make your own LED night costumes and projects. EL wire is worthless past about 30 feet.. what we need is more custom LED work at night to really light up and create our night time masterpiece of US on the playa!
Actually.. my one item for the day would be researching Kickstarter to help possibly boost and start full scale production of the LED light suits for next year. Researching prototype PCB sources and trying to find a suitable overseas manufacturer for the entire project as we speak..

lol.. the all knowing Savannah gets the inside scoop on all the playa gossip..
..and BTW, Illy Dilly the Penguin.. I'm checking out some RGB LED control boards that can run like 400 LEDs per each R, G and B channel.. and then fade to make all colors of the rainbows real slow. If you were to take just one LED for each channel and make a string out of them, you could get like some kind of white dome or maybe BALLOON(!!! BRAIN FLASH !!!) and put each one in them. Then.. attach each balloon to say the outer perimeter of the Gnome Dome for a full on ring of color changing orbs at night. All controlable and powered by like a 9v battery..
EDIT: Hmm.. how ya gonna stick 3 LEDs on wires in a balloon, blow it up, and tie it. Doh. There has to be a way or a cheap way to make white semi-translucent domes like that..

Thank goodness! Glad to hear we are not the only ones having this problem.
Today I've accepted the fact that I may not be going in 2012. And that if it is meant to happen it will but if it doesn't it will not kill me.
At least it means I'm not missing anything by having no clue that playa gossip even existed

We're being silly. Of the two slumber party secrets Junglesmacks has ever told me, only one was secret, and then, only temporarily so.

Lazerfox, I really hope it works out for you and that you're able to make it to the Burn in 2012!
