I have been with BDC for 8 years and for each meet & greet have prepared a combination of the following; shrimp cocktail, cheese, veggie and meat platters, Roast Barbie meat ( people rarely ask, but it's really roast pork) Artichoke dip, home made hummus and pita chips, Chicken Caesar wraps, jello shots etc. People have always brought food or wine to the M&G for as long as I can remember. We had a few years of very low attendence due to weather or multiple other shiny distracting events- but there has always been food prepared by BDC and brought by attendees. I'm sorry that some folks missed out on the food. BM attendence has never been higher and BDC never more popular. We have always been an open, welcoming and sharing camp. I replenished the tortillas on the M&G table when they ran out and provided hard cheese and crackers with pepperoni this year before we started our fizzball game.

Doc would like to keep the M&G at BDC. My suggestions are as follows. Put the food in Docs RV. Only people with name tags or thier guests can enter. We have big boys that can bounce if needed or set up some tables behind the main art and living space (between my camper and MotoStus). It will be out of plain sight, yet still at BDC.

Hind sight is 20/20 and we all can learn from our mistakes.
I am an eplayan with lurker status. On EPlaya I only talk if I have something to say (unlike the rest of the time when I spend half my day prying my foot out of my own mouth).

Interesting. I wonder why? You would think he would be a bit more welcoming and host-like if this were the case. In the three years I have attended the M&G there, I have made a point to go up to him to say hello, only to find him too 'busy' to even offer an acknowledgement. Same thing happened when I tried to say hello at a special trip I made to his camp to meet all the newbies camping there.

Maybe he just doesn't like me...but then again, I'm not the only one that has felt snubbed by the good doc at a M&G.

Aside from that, I think your idea of the food being kept in a more private area is a good one.

This plan is imperfect.

I am willing to guard the door. I'm not huge, but it would be fun.

I'd totally bounce the door. I used to work the door at a redneck metal club. You kittens would be a piece of cake.

We'll need a couple of super hot guys to escort Crypto into Doc's RV. Still, not a perfect plan, but better than my last one. Always room for improvement.

For me, and I know it was for MANY other eplayans, the MnG was an important highlight of the burn. The name tags were a HUGE help (thanks jkisha!!!!) they enabled us to find eachother in the crowd. The fanatastic food and drinks were secondary to meeting everyone face to face.

btw, next MnG thread the OP may want to mention 'post here in this thread if you want a name tag' or bring your own name tag, or write your eplaya name on your shirt, body part etc....something like that would help indentify everyone.

Thanks, I sort of wanted them to be a surprise this year. (after all, it took me three years to come up with the idea!).

Which was why this thread was started and several announcements were placed on other threads to get as many people that were attending to post here so I could get a list of people to make name tags for.

Anyone that was there that I didn't make a name tag for, and you would like one, please PM me with your mailing address and I would be thrilled to make one for you.

I'm hoping to do them again next year, but based on comments I got back this year might try to make them a bit larger.

To be truthful, I was embarassed by thinking you promised to be quite a satisfying dick.

Then I had to dust my fucking knees and legs off AGAIN, when I realized you were merely removing your pants and the absinthe was in a bottle on the table.

I thought you were wonderful. I think people just have realize that sometimes people are BUSY during this type of gathering, and judge the situation a bit more closely waiting for the opportune moment. This whole bit of revelation saddens me.....

The size was fine. People could have written their names larger. Standard badge size is easiest, I'd think; the avatars could have been larger. I bet people wouldn't even need names, if the badges were just our avatars. Could be a new game...whoever guesses the most correct identies wins.

I know you're busy as all get out doc!! You stay in camp most of the time and keep things running smoothly from what I was told. I think you're fantastic and one of my favorites (I love your dry humor, lmfa!!)

FWIW, we hosted a MnG at Retrofrolic Wednesday night for an "alternative lifestyle" website. I barely actually met anyone. The logistics of maintaining some kind of order and decorum is unimaginable. I fully understand Doc's position and was actually surprised to see him pouring absinthe when I arrived. Although oddly after I handed him a bottle of my "top shelf" absinthe, he quietly disappeared! HMMMMMMmmmmmm

Only those who suffered the aftermath appreciate the trash and cleaning necessitated by our presence. Before we all pile on the host for his seemingly ungracious demeanor, we should grab a bag of rubbish to lighten his load.

Oh please. We serve root beer floats every single day, to hundreds of people...provide paper cups and plastic spoons andcollectt all the trash. We have people all assigned to various tasks so that nobody is so overburdened that they can't be hospitable to everyone that enters for service. We even have people working the lines to make sure all the kids are pulled up to the front of the line. Our atmosphere is so friendly that many of the people that finished with their float ask to help circulate the trash bags.

You want to host the party, you assume the responsibilities of the planning and logistics, not use them as an excuse for being busy.

Actually no. But it only really kicked in after the tickets ran out. Seems to me that was the point where I started noticing that things went from glib to hurtful.

Somethings aren't really worth working on perfecting, I'd think. Like purposefully (and openly) hurting people you KNOW you're going to be frequenting daily. Just seems totally fucked up to me.

I thought it was a lovely touch, and I was surprised.... pleasantly....I've still got mine and I will keep it until next year too

Yes I did also introduce myself to Doc... and said we were supposed to meet in London, but never got the chance - but he was v busy as it was rammed in there... so he was trying to organise everything by himself, which must have been a ballache

I'd be happy to go further with you on this, but not in this thread. I'll just suffice it to say that most people offended by my posts are those I won't be frequenting daily. It's sort of my way of separating the wheat from the chaff.

I love Doc.
sure, with all things, some stuff could be done different.
"better" is very subjective..........

two parties? why not? different days? why not. Will everyone make both? probably not. But, WTF.
What's with all the bitchin about who did what, who showed up, when, or if at all, who made what promise,......

it's the fucking Playa, people. Nothing goes as planned, when planned, and usually not where planned.
