Steve's car is toast. We're waiting on a call from my Dad who is going to loan us enough money to go back (about 100 miles) to Evanston to get a one-way Penske rental. We're putting the whole trailer on it and driving it (at 10 mpg O_o) all the way back :-/

Unless of course someone has a better idea? This sucks, but it's awesome to have so many people trying to help us.

Car is getting donated and not leaving this lovely little town it seems. Needs somewhere around 5k worth of work (aka new motor)

if you have the ability to internet, there might be a chance to get your stuff on an 18 wheeler, deadheading back.
it happens at times, if you can find a broker. Not sure of prices, but, might be worth a try.

contact a moving company. They'll move your stuff in a van with someone elses who's moving in the same direction, for a nominal fee. I moved my mom from CA to WA for $2k. She had a lot of stuff too. I think it was from Allied, but there are other Moving Lines you can try!

Hi everyone!
Here's the deal; Tomorrow morning we pick up a rental car here in Green River and drive 100 miles back to Evanston to get a Penske. The tow truck driver here will load our trailer onto the rental truck for us and we'll be on our way.
A HUGE THANK YOU to my Dad, Ed who is generously loaning out his credit card to rescue the three of us.
Steve needs your love especially, his beloved car is dead. We have to drag it out behind the shed and shoot it, leaving it to linger in Green River. There's a lot of other dead cars from far away states to keep it company though...I'm not sure what that's a sign of.
The gas bill is going to suck on the ride home, and Steve doesn't have a car for work when we get there. A lot of you have offered us financial assistance, but honestly I don't know how to accept it. We've got the money to get home, so let's hope for the best with the rental

So after a 6 hour wait to change a tire on our trailer yesterday (I blame being stuck on a Saturday in Iowa during a Cornhuskers/Cyclones game...The Penske rep told me she had to call 15 different contractors before she found one to help us...the couple that came was from 80 miles away) We're all home safe and sound...Well actually Steve is at work, he had to work 3rd shift tonight o_O

Keep in mind even a "dead" car has value. I sold an 18 year old toyota truck with a burned out engine (278k miles) for $700 at auction. The junk yard offered $50. Some people are really good at popping in new engines/transmissions ect. Craigslist has quite a few ads for burned out cars in that price range or MORE!
