I was super happy to meet the folks I did although bummed I missed a ton, too. I knew that would probably be the case since I was late, but I had to deal with wedding stuff so I already expected that.

I didn't expect ALL the food to be gone. When I looked around briefly and saw bags of chips on the table I kinda wondered if people just didn't manage to come through due to playa interference...but I was so happy at the time to meet folks I didn't dwell on it. I was starving however...I'd turned down my camp mates who wanted to throw me a wedding party/dinner since I was going to this fabulous potluck! LOL @ me. :D

It didn't even occur to me that there wasn't something in place to at least "sorta" ensure the potluck was "secured" for the people it was intended for; I guess I thought that was a given, considering the nature of the crowds out there. What a shame. I don't mind if the food was all gone due to my being late, but it does rankle that a bunch of random moochers scored on all the hard work and planning that had gone on for months. =/

You did a marvelous job. All that could have been expected. Without the event being made private, which was not in purview, the was nothing more that you could have done.

I'm grumpy.

Too much default world drama going on in my world and my Burn wasn't as splendorific as usual so I'm in a bummed out state of mind.

I'll just start planning for next year as I clean up my crap, that will make me feel better. :P

JS did you kick your own Shin?? That is talent! Glad to know there was no snark. Text makes it very hard to read tonality without all the smiley faces
I wish I could make it out to AfterBurn locally so I could get a little more time with burners in my life. I do think we are going to try to go to Jammalamma though and that should be fun.

Minxy I feel your pain about not taking food offered at camp & starving there and I even missed your cookies too!! But I do appreciate Doc and don't blame him (or anyone) for the food mishaps. I had some tasty tasty liquor and a great time meeting those that I did get to meet and it gives me an excuse to get there earlier next time so I can help bounce the line to the food (wherever that may be).

MDF no need to stop reading. We all love you and had a blast. There are always things that aren't perfect and even if we get the food security fixed next time there will be something else that will go awry. You did an awesome job and stepped in where I know I could not. Thank you...Thank you...Thank you!!

Doc you know you rock...thanks for the absinthe and hospitality. I just wish I had not forgotten my camera and had proof 8)

Jkisha Thank you for the nametags! Thank you for cooking the steaks I'm sure were delicious! Thank you for wanting to make this event even more great for all of us!

I just hope I can partake again sometime in my near future.

Ditto to what lazerfox said. :) I was super happy to attend and meet folks, the food sitch was just a side thing for me. It IS the playa, I didn't have hard set huge expectations. :P I was just freaking thankful my marriage managed to occur. :D :D

Thanks to BDC and Doc Pyro for hosting and MDF for organizing, I didn't mean to sound ungrateful. I was very VERY happy to attend and meet many wonderful people to put faces and smiles to the online personas!

Maybe we need to develop a secret handshake. I do have some interesting shocking utensils we could set up for crashers,,,, and I know a guy with a big fucking water cannon who already volunteered his services.

Or we could set up a kind of Rite of Passage to the food line for those without name tags,,,, "yeah you can eat, but first you must slather this bacon grease all over your naked body and roll in the dust."

That might thin the crowd,,,,, jus' sayin'

Maybe next year the event shouldn't be put into the book of events. I'm sure that attracted a good amount of people. Thursday wasn't super busy everywhere else but when me and my girlfriend pulled up at around 6:15 it sure looked like everyone and their mother heard about some potluck/meet n greet. I wish I'd remembered about the name tags and went in and got one, but we left thinking that there was a lot of non-eplayans and probably even less food and even more smoochers wanting to drink my wine that I brought to share with you guys.

All you have to do is say free drinks at the trash fence in the WWW and you'll get a crowd.
