Anyone using Ableton Live on the playa? The other DJ option

Post by minimalistik » Wed Aug 18, 2004 10:19 am

dont want to lug records around but would love to play some music during the week. Looking for any soundsystems that will be running ableton. My laptop is kaput so I am at your mercy, i bring a DVD or CD of my work files load it up and rock it out or chill it out. I am not a club DJ and expect little more than a fast toe tap from me mashed with an occasional head bob.

NO trance or house I swear. I play minimal techno/micro-house/dub/ambient/glitch anything that does not contain boring 303 lines. Think germany meets detroit.

audio sample below of my current project. It basically consist of hundreds of records reduced to snippits and looped, mixed and morphed on the fly (i dont plan sets much really).

is there any reason why you have to use Ableton and cant use anything else?

Have you tried Traktor?

traktor is the best. i use it in conjunction with a midi keyboard, and have full slider and knob control there. simply awesome. I plan to setup a complete mobile DJ rig, based on traktor and possibly with a custom-made midi control board. just walk in, drop the box down, flip the power, and start playing. aw crap, i'm drooling again. GET MY CUP!

Been using traktor for years...it is great

will be djing with it at Happy Camp, The Temple of Atonement, and any other spaces that want me to dj.

I spin tribal tech house, and nu skool breaks

sometimes i also hookup a pioner efx 500 to the laptop for extra fun
