We want Amerityres for the rhoadescar, but they don't make the correct width for our rims.

I learned just other day that all rims are not equal.

WalMart has camo burlap (for duck blinds) on sale right now.

I haven't had great luck with that holding up on my hunting stands (wind tends to shred it) and it is potentially really moopy.unjonharley wrote:WalMart has camo burlap (for duck blinds) on sale right now.

Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

My fever for building insane light up electronics stuff for the playa only got worse overnight... I have a nasty suspicion I'm going to end up buying at least one other microcontroller today and may go so far as to start sticking my head into starting to understand FGPAs (basically programmable hardware - it essentially lets you design custom chips without ever burning any silicon).
Dear god, what have I done?!?!

Muoooooohahahahaha.
I.. love.. it. Yeah, talk to me about how first it was.. gee.. I wanna put some LEDs on these pants. Then it was hmm.. I could put little clusters. Soon it became full MOSFET boards.. 1200 LEDs in 16 banks.. then a matching top.. and the rest is history.
GO BIG!!!
Isn't that basically just an arduino being as that it's IC based and open source?waxpraxis wrote:FGPAs (basically programmable hardware - it essentially lets you design custom chips without ever burning any silicon).

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Not quite - when you "program" an FGPA you're essentially making custom hardware by re-arranging logic gates (FPGA is sort for Field Programmable Gate Array).junglesmacks wrote:waxpraxis wrote: Isn't that basically just an arduino being as that it's IC based and open source?
WIth an Arduino, Propeller, PIC, etc you're running your own (compiled) code on a general purpose processor. With an FPGA you're instead making custom hardware. Like I said though, it's WAY above me at the moment, but when Adafruit.com is selling a starter kit for $100 it certainly is tempting!

I agree, More Mind Blowing!
I started my LED pants pretty late last year, so this year I'll get started early.
I really like the UV LEDs. Though, I will have to experiment with RGBs. I'm currently on the hunt for the perfect UV LED. The UV LEDs sold at Radio Shack are awesome, but WAY TO FUCKING PRICEY!!!
They are a dark purple light, but they cast more light than the LED it self.
The UV LEDs Jungle Smacks sent me were a life saver when I ran out of the eBay ones I got, but they are almost a light purple in color, and have a very direct path of light.
Not all UV LEDs are created equal!

Personally, I'm getting myself a couple of xmas pre-sale tix.. holding on to them.. trying for tier 1 when they come out.. then selling the xmas tix for face value to the right situation in just the right time.
JS, 2 questions if I may ... in the rental truck are there ribs along the 'ceiling' of the truck or D rings on the sides/floor?

The inside of the 16' trucks do have horizontal wooden "ribs" running along the sides at about 2ft intervals. We used them to tie the curtain string along the front of the truck. The roof is solid sheet metal with no places to tie anything to. You could always stop by your local Budget truck rental location to check one out just to get a feel for it. This last year, we had a full queen sized mattress + couch in there and it was perfect. I'll do it the same way again next year. The only thing that really sucks is that since it was so warm this year, it was BLAZING hot inside that thing from about noonish until sundown. The roof would heat up and radiate heat. If you had a fan, it was maybe do-able.. but it was pretty much an unsleepable sauna in there 6 hours out of the day. But.. you just find your favorite shade structure and do what you can. Overall, box truck camping on the cheap for me is still the most cost effective way to do it for out of towners..DanusLight wrote: JS, 2 questions if I may ... in the rental truck are there ribs along the 'ceiling' of the truck or D rings on the sides/floor?
Different company, but I think same exact box truck:

Re: One Item for BM a Day
WOOHOO!!
My one item for the day is downloading Eagle CADSOFT Pro for designing electrical schematics and PCBs.. walking myself through YouTube tutorials.. and designing my PCBs for next years light suit! Just blazed through the tutorials and will be ready to create my own tomorrow.
Happened myself into a chance meeting this morning with a generous burner that has access to a PCB etching CNC machine who offered to make the prototype PCBs for me at no cost except for materials which I'll happily supply.
Oh my god the possibilities.. such a whole new world. Wow..

You know.. I've been thinking about this. Although, the main problem with heat in the truck is that the roof is pure sheet metal, and once that baby heats up all it does is radiate heat like the sun. I need a shade structure over the top of it to deflect direct UV rays in addition to a cooler. That all sums up to.. well..FIGJAM wrote:Adding an Endsless Breeze fan would fix that 6hr. hot box affect.

Continued unpacking and cleaning. 15 loads of laundry so far, just a few more to go.
The upside is, putting the stuff away in totes is starting to pack it for next year so I guess technically I have been packing for the next burn since returning home.
