We have the back of the truck packed. Tomorrow our clothes and personal items go in the cab. Friday morning Judge, goes bye-bye! (I have work stuff to deal with for a few more days.)

primal scream

Post by calsur » Sun Aug 22, 2004 2:10 am

waltsnipe,

Please toss in some Dire Straights.

Bought my bike today. $19.50 at Salvation Army. I will be upgrading the seat and lubing the chain, My tarp got here for my shade structure floor. Ropes and rebar all taken care of and nicely bundled up waiting to load on Thursday. I am now entering the freakout mode on WHAT AM I FORGETTING?

Insert primal scream here.

I hope everyone has a blast at BM.

I have EVERYTHING done except about half of the housework. I want a damn clean house to come home to after a week on the playa.

Except for my food and water, I've only got 2 headlamps, some rechargable batteries and earplugs to get.

I'm 95% packed up. Just checked my packlist and updated the "Get this!" list.

I only have to finish the Anubis mask for the Opera and I only have to do the eyes on that. They're not quite dry yet, I'm letting them set up overnight and then I'll put them in the mask's eyeholes.

They're awesome, in both senses. The sclerae are all slanty and glow in the dark and the irises are wild, yellow, staring taxidermy wolf eyes. People are gonna freak when they see it. He looks eerie and wise at the same time — perfect for a god of darkness :)

Self-imposed project moratorium tonight. Gotta do it or I'd never stop. I'd still be making stuff out there.

Packing the back of the car starts tomorrow. Get water bottles out of the locker and fill them.

Take care of home-based business Tuesday, make sure I come back to no bills, no apocalypses, nothing shut off or shut down...because Babylon doesn't stop just because you're Burning ;)

Wednesday, non-perishables grocery shopping finished.

Thursday, shop for perishables, get whatever out of the storage locker.

Sleep in Friday, pack the roof rack, finish up details, then LEAVE in the cool, dark hours! ETA Playafall, Saturday morning =D

Finished getting the base for my mailbox set up (1x1 mounted in a Quikrete-filled metal bucket - the hardest part was trying to figure out how to brace the *&^%$#@! 1x1 to stand up straight in the bucket while I was waiting for the concrete to dry). Went on gawdawful Costco run yesterday; half of what we bought is already on-playa (my boyfriend left this morning). Acquired four small floor cushions and a second-hand "Oriental" rug from Freecycle. Have collection of 1.5 and 2 liter water bottles freezing; am debating freezing the .5ls we bought.

Still to do: Refill prescriptions. Get new tires for the car as soon as I can find somewhere that isn't charging so much I'll take up all my available credit doing it. Pack. (God help me.) Make ID tags for self/hydropak. Figure out where the hell to store my spare carkeys since they're too big for the biggest magnetic carrier I could find. Buy more food (and probably wind up having too much, but better than not enough). Figure out if there's anything left of my brain after working on DMV applications for so long. :-P

PurpleKoosh,

Spare car keys. Cut a wire hanger and wire them up under the car to a frame. And thanks for pointing out something I still need to do.

My other thought was to put them in the bedbox on my boyfriend's truck, since he'll be leaving the playa well after I do.

Whew! [wipe sweat, crack neck]
Projects are all done.
Game and Opera box just got packed up and added to the Big Pile o' Boxes™.
Control journal (an AyDeeDee adaptation strategy) is complete and packed. All giftables are packed. Kitchen stuph will get packed up when I wake up later today.
Anubis mask finished. He looks real, you stare at Him expecting to see a whisker flick, a blink or a respiration. The taxidermy wolf eyes really sell the illusion. My Gnosis point and Manipulation+Crafts roll came back all 9's and 10's and not a 1 in sight.
Klaive prop for the game is finished, it's beautiful. You'd never guess it was oak, it looks like magically-glittering enchanted silver set with sparkling cabochons.
Kitchen chicken is proudly perched high atop the Big Pile o' Boxes™ and vigilantly guarding it with unblinking eyes :)
I'm going to bed. Five days to go! =D

emergency trip to the doctors - check
drugs acquired - check
infection slowed - check (but not before having pretty sore kidneys)
i'll only be on antibiotics for 2.5 days on playa

fought with rideshare - check
glued stilts - check
more or less finished boffers - check
stove bought and cooler borrowed - check
took care of mother - check

still to do:
18.6 billion projects
spending more quality time with the S.O.
acquiring shade cloth
groceries
wrestling things into a pickup
more fighting with rideshare.
brain imlposion
check up on friends in West Bank
check up on Maltese friend with some mystery brain ailment
care for mother...

just shoot me now.
