I favor a theme of "The Man Burns Tonight!"

Or just accurate.I suppose it helps people feel connected post-event, but I find it dreary and pathetic. I know, I'm a killjoy.

Re: Next year's theme?
How about this - Their rite of passage was to return to not releasing the theme until after the SF Decomp and before the Burnal Equinox... Used to be that way. Same with Ticket sales. (Hell, all those people who said No More Themes... maybe they won??)
Maybe they just wanted to see the reaction of cattle when you move (or remove) the food source? Good fodder for a doctoral thesis in this somewhere...
Either way... we'll find out when we find out. Stay calm, and burn on.

They can't just shut down burning man, I mean we'd all just show up in the desert anyways, right? with the addition of bringing our own porta potties alongside all the food and water. could they give 50,000 people citations or tickets?

Re: Next year's theme?
OK... the real reason is that the aliens that were using this years temple for their secret base have a tight schedule between wormholes, and they hae not released to the BMOrg either the date of the next signularity in our galactic neighborhood... add to this they are bringing out a different trans-temporal ship (the reason you didn't see them there - they were in a different space-time continuum) next year, and they can't announce the theme, to plan the design of the temple around, until they get the interdimensional Coordinates of the ship.
To keep it all covert, the theme has to match the temple, whith has to match the ship's dimensions... well, you get the idea.
Ticket Sales are equally as touchy - the org has to insure enough income so they can pay the BLM, who in turn pays the Arcturians for their technology which directly benefits their long term wastewater disposal project, which only seems to work on playa. The result of this project, of course, is that fine alkaline soil we get to play on when the Arcturian "water" they use the playa for dehydrates.
So now you understand... because the entire future of the playa and it's fragile fossilized fishshit really depend on the Interstellar wastewater delivery. Otherwise, something would actually grow out there. Also the reason for the huge temple - Lotta concentrated wastewater from outer space this year.
Just think of it as the porta potty project on a grand scale for a race of people we can neither confirm nor deny exists!
This public relations nightmare, er, bulletin brought to you by the "Flood the Playa" anticonservancy... and the Leauge of Planets, Arcturus Consulate, and Viewers like Hugh.
(And you thought those were just mutant VEHICLES out there!)

If we all posted personal attacks against folks we disagreed with here the boards would become useless. If we all stopped having different opinions they would be equally useless.
If this attack is based on larger issues, just plonk her and you won't have to see her posts.

No, you got it wrong. Cryptofish makes a career out of debasing other people's opinions, like nobody know anything but him. But that's his way I guess. But don't call my post pathetic because you disagree with me. Just disagree, don't label me with words from your obviously limited vocabulary. I simply posed a question based on the input I've received and was called "pathetic"? Who'se pathetic here? You may disagree, but pathetic is not the word to use. Because maybe YOU are the pathetic one here. He probably kicks his dog for enjoyment.

I agree BBS. What is going on with this public bashing of fishy? If you have something like that to say, do it I'm a pm. You can agree to disagree regarding people's opinions, but blatantly insulting fishy like that uncalled for bucko.
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Karlene, I doubt anyone is going anywhere, but you can avoid seeing another person's posts by clicking on "User Control Panel" at the top left, then on the "Friends & Foes" tab, then on "Manage Foes", enter a name, & clicking "submit". Seem is the operative word. Just because I'm chatty and opinionated doesn't mean that I think I'm pure gold.Karlene wrote:I find YOU dreary and pathetic, and have for a long time. Let me try again: Trying to guess the status of the permit from the absence of the theme seems like a monumental waste of time to me. I have done this sort of thing in the past, mostly in a "teeny-bopper, read the mind of the cute boy" way, and feel like all that energy is wasted. I would be sorry to see people on this board wasting their time in this way, but of course, it is theirs to waste.
My bark is worse that my bite, in general. I don't know if we've interacted before, but if we haven't, that wasn't the sort of introduction that would bring out my best.

Re: Next year's theme?
Obviously you haven't met Crypto..or Fishy as I refer to her in person because if you had you would know your post is a full 180 degrees off from reality. Opinionated? Yes she is. When you've had her life experiences yeah she's got a lot to share. And fortunately at least in my opinion she's taken the time to share those experiences with us. I've learned a lot of things from her over the years, and she's someone I deeply respect. And if you have the chance to ever meet her in person I hope you take advantage of the opportunity. Because that's exactly what it will be...an opportunity. She may come across rough sometimes, but a bigger heart is hard to find.Karlene wrote:No, you got it wrong. As far as comments go, the eplaya is a lot tamer than it used to be, but snark and opinions are what keeps this place alive and interesting. You can fire back with drivel posts that show you don't know the person you're running your mouth about...or you could use the search feature and do some digging and learn a little bit about the cast of characters that call this little outpost of the internet home. If you did that...and you look further at the event that pulls us all here and what it stands for, you might change your attitude a bit.
Oh and as for the theme, if you're relying on "The Hat" to provide your artistic inspiration...you've got problems. Build art that transcends any damn silly theme and you'll be better off. </soapbox>

The really cool part is to have art which can easily slide smoothly into just about any theme.
My theme for Spring/Easter/Equinox/Procreation/Pop Your Cherry is:
My theme for Summer/4th of July/Red White and Blue/Virility/Strength is: The list goes on and the examples are endless. Radical Self Expression = Creativity
