Today bought plastic bins to start storing all the burny stuff I'll be amassing :D

Oh...and a tape measure, because I cannot seem to find the one I supposedly own....

Don't sweat this - I own 4 contractor grade.. somewhere. All my measuring is being done with a little Stanley jobby included with the house tool set I bought.

Today I picked up a very cool faux lambskin pull-over sweater, black, for chilly playa nights for $5. Pretty damn sweet IMHO. Sorta poofy, but will be even poofier by the burn - I have another 40-50 pounds to lose and 11 months to do it. Dropped 50 so far.. I buy clothes a little tight - for motivation - lol

I always scope out the end of season clearance stuff, and since the summer stuff is what we can all really use in BRC, here are some hot tips.

Target has a huge overabundance of LED solar garden lights. There are strings and the single stick ones for as low as a $1.00. They are on the verge of marking them at 75% off which will bring the lights down to 50 cents each.

Staples has Sharpie markers (great for leaving at the Temple for notes to loved ones) for a package of 2 for 50 cents. I buy dozens of them when I see them this low and leave them around the Temple during the week.

All the big box stores have lexan plates, cup and other dinnerware being blown out the door to make way for Christmas.

The upside is, putting the stuff away in totes is starting to pack it for next year so I guess technically I have been packing for the next burn since returning home.

Ditto this. I was going to say that earlier but got distracted by a phone call. I'm so tired of cleaning playa covered mess right now! :D We brought wayyyy too much stuff this year. Next year I'm going minimalist. :P

We brought way too much too and our mantra is simplify simplify simplify.

Decided on yes to the airstream again, but plan on putting a monkey hut over it. Shopping for aluminet now. Have to go to San Antonio tomorrow so going by Target for some lights (thanks lalalala!)

I have been struggling with that thought - minimalist or "regular". Or a combo of the two?
On topic - I spent $12 at the local $1 store and created a pretty nice little First Aid satchel. Bandaides, bendages, ointments, ani-nausea, laxatives, etc.. pretty sweet. Pieces went into several ziplock bags and are all set and sealed into their prospective places til next year.

Heh one thing I won't minimize on is my med box. I have everything in that damn thing. Two first aid kits, extra band aids, medicine for diarrhea or constipation, alka seltzer plus a couple other types of pain meds (tylenol, ibuprofen, etc), neosporin, pepto, couple of arm/leg wraps, etc etc... I rarely use anything in there but it's been a blessing to have stuff on hand for friends. :)

A life saver for us this year was "New Skin" or some sort of liquid skin!
Since Band-aids don't work for shit in BRC, especially on your hands the liquid skin was a must!
Get any blister or cut real clean, let it dry, then apply the liquid skin. You might have to redo it everyother day or so.
On Wednesday, I pinched my thumb in a multi-tool, not the pliers side but the inside, had a real nice blood blister in like 5 minutes (It looked like a tic or some blood sucking bug) pooped it real nice cleaned it up real good, and applied the liquid skin. It lasted all they way tell Sunday.
I cannot speak of what brand is best, the stuff we got is 'professional' grade, I guess. It wasn't the really expensive one time use 100% sterile tubes, but a bottle of pretty good stuff. My sister was able to snag it from work, but the "one time" use tubes are like $200 bucks a piece, so she couldn't nab any of those. This was a brown bottle, with a finger nail polish brush attached to the lid.
It was a life saver!!!! or at least an infected blister saver

Don't forget to check expiration dates--especially if you use the kit year after year. Medicines lose potency and the seal on bandages break causing them to lose sterility.

Good point! I didn't check this year and they are several years old. Thanks, Jk. :) I've never actually USED my first aid kits. :P Dosed out plenty of Pepto and Alka-seltzer and other meds though! :D

I bought some anti-constipation meds and then didn't realize they just disappeared until we were on our way home.
The pitted prunes helped to not need them

Plenty of liquids and almonds do the trick in our camp. If things are bad, use a few of those little International Delight coffee flavor "creamer" cups in your coffee. I promise, they're oil based and make your shit slick right out.

Made my first trip to a Goodwill Outlet today. That was an experience. The 'regulars' have their own bags, gloves and line up like vultures for the next new bin

Grabbed a few clothing pieces that will be mutated. I've taken over the spare bedroom as a new craft/sewing/staging and packing area :D

Started to mentally prepare my son for his move from his present bedroom to what we like to call - "The Exit Room". That is the room downstairs next to the kitchen with a door to the kitchen and the other that leads outside...

How is this an item for Burning Man? Once we get him downstairs - his bedroom - which is very long and skinny becaomes the Master closet/craft room. Muahahahaha!!!

So today my one thing a day was making a biiggggg to-do list! :P

Not necessarily just for Burning Man, but last night I got a tackle box for all my soldering, LED, EL wire, Battery packs, wires, and electronics junk.
I figured a tackle box has nice dividers for keeping all those little tiny parts separate, it latches, and travels easily.

Picked up fabric and foam for my next 2 BM projects - a utility belt and bike seat cushion.

Been spending the day purging my closet of anything even closely resembling work clothes to make more room for what actually PLEASES me.

I've worn a uniform for work for the last 7 years and NEVER want to have a job requiring that kind of look again........ so it's really the easiest purge I've done in a long time.

....Major bonus was finding my 1800's priest coat and my monster-feet slippers. Definitely wearing this to tonight's burn, which is likely to be the best since my return as it is MONSTER'S DAY (large garbage) in my little town, and we've already picked up several dilapidated chairs and bureaus and bedheads to burn... and that's before even hooking up the trailer for a look-see farther than the top of my road!

delle, you're a rocket! I still hazily remember your intro post about a costume with barbie heads hanging off your belt? I thought to myself, "this one will do just fine." Monster's Day sounds great! Have fun!

Actually it was a full barbie, hung by her hair.... with a bottle of lighter fluid tucked in the belt with her. You've got me thinking that a belt made entirely of hanging heads might be something I NEED now, tho..... :D

You could always use that as a jumping off point for a Hallowe'en costume as a "Corporate Head Hunter".
