Full Moon on the Playa !
Good news. All early arrivals (8/29 Sunday) will have the benefit of a full moon.

I agree in principal, but in 2001, my first burn, I was out alone Sunday nite after my brother (who took me out there) had gone home, and I remember being out in the middle of the playa under the full moon. It was so bright, it was like being in a lighted swimming pool at night. Awesome.buckethead alien wrote: I like my playa big and D A R K.
More accurately the full moon is at 19:23PDT, but the moon is below the horizon at BLC at that time. By midnight, the full moon will have risen, and be something like a spot lamp, and although it will be just a few hours off full, you won't be able to tell the difference - even one of two nights afterwards.theCryptofishist wrote:Even though they won't get in until 12:01 Monday morning. Without prior permission. Still, it gives them a good way to watch from afar and pick their arrival time, per Badger's suggestion.
I do prefer my playa moonlight free.

i'm quite pleased about the full moon.
my first year the moon was bright enough that we had a shadow at night.
everything was bathed in silver light
and you could see the unlit, bad idea art waiting to kill bicycle riders (oh, look... an unlit chickenwire lunchbox filled with rocks!)

You mean waiting to Darwinize nighttime bikers with no light on their bikes!Lydia Love wrote:and you could see the unlit, bad idea art waiting to kill bicycle riders (oh, look... an unlit chickenwire lunchbox filled with rocks!)
If you ride when you can't see and just expect a clear path, you may have an educational experience.
I hate full moons on the playa too... give me a nice dark night.
