Can we fit 3 people in this vehicle setup?
Hello!
This will be my and my roommates' first trip to BM. They (a couple) have a Jeep Cherokee which will have a bike rack. Will they have room for me and my belongings. We're not bringing anything unusually large, but between food, camping gear, clothes, miscellaneous crap, and 50-60 gallons of water for 3 people, will there be room for me?
Please share your experiences with transporting 3 (or more) people in similar sized (or smaller!) vehicles and accomodating space so I can have some frame of reference.
Cheers

Yeah you should be able to do it. I put 4 people in a dodge durango last year. OK we had a roof rack and it was still a bit tight, but we drove from LA and back just fine. The Jeep is a little smaller of a vehical so I doubt you'd get 4 and gear 3 should be OK>
When in doubt, push the RED button!

We bring three people out from Utah in our Jeep Cherokee, but we have a trailer and a hard shell topper. Of course, we bring big shade canopies and a four wheeled bike and a cast iron snowcone machine, so the trailer is necessary for us. You can do it, but it will be tight. If they have a roof rack, get a topper of some kind and put all the light bulky stuff in it, bedding, clothes, costumes, small tents. This will leave more room for heavy things in the Jeep. Spread the water weight throughout the jeep and NOT on top. Layer everything in and you should make it. Drive carefully, the handling will change with the extra weight, and the gas mileage will suck. Our jeep is in for a tune-up NOW, ask your friends to have theirs looked over just in case.
We did four people one year, the two in the back got very, very cozy.

I went up in my '95 Nissan Pathfinder 3.0ltr (similar size) last year with 3 people and towing a tent trailer. It was tad slow going but we made it in pretty good time. A few things to think about when towing a trailer; wheel base should or aprox equal your cars wheelbase for better handling, have good breaks. A new set of high performance heat disipating pads are worth their weight in gold. You will end up putting water in that little trailer I know you will dont fib and that sucker will weigh in a bit. Also if you can re-pack those front end wheel barings, they get hot and you don't want them going out ither. Wheel barings can be done when you do the pads. I had my barings and pads done yesterday for $270.00. Mines a 4x4 so its a little more expensive because they have to turn the roters on the car itself.
I whole heartedly recomend the trailer, cheep and alows alot more cabin comfort. Your Jeep should easily carry the 900lbs to 1500 or more. Check your specs for towing rates etc.

I think you can do it, you may be a little squished, but its all in good fun!
You can always tuck things under your feet, last year i had no feet room and sat chris cross a lot of the way, it was fun .
GOOD LUCK

Or is that rubbers ducky?
and a rubbers ducky would be one that stores and/or produces condoms. or, in Malta, erasers.
