Coup de etat, U.S. military

All things outside of Burning Man.

If the U.S. military staged a coup de etat to restore legitimate representative government, would you oppose them?

The question itself is flawed. The United States constitution is not like Turkey's where the constitution itself forbids any change to its fundamental precepts; where violations of the constitution could be grounds for intervention. If Congress wished to grant itself legal legitimacy in any matter, it would merely need to amend the Constitution to reflect this. Any part of the US Constitution can be amended by Congress, including the existence of the Constitution itself. In effect, any military coup d'état purporting to restore "legitimacy" of the representational government would, in itself, be working against the Constitution.

If such a coup took place, I'd start hoarding guns.

I don't think for a minute that the US military would participate in anything that restored a 'legitimate representative government'. For fuck's sakes, it's the military industrial complex that's benefitting the most from the way things have been running for the last several years.

"The question itself is flawed"
Too true. A coup generally results in authoritarian rule, NOT representative GOV.
The Harpers article had some great speculation on the subject.
