I didn't even realize where Triken lived until I saw this post. My parents used to take us to Jerome almost every year when I was a kid in the 70's (back when you could still get into some of the perilous old houses hanging over the hills if you where a danger loving 10 year old and it hadn't become a "destination" art place). I still remember when they turned the old schoolhouse into artists studios.

Loved that town.

My neighbour called me "ohmu", because my tent sort of looked like one, the way I had painted it. I wasn't planning on ever going by it, but I needed something to use for the ePlaya, so maybe it'll stick.

Now I want to build an art car that moves using hundreds of tiny legs instead of wheels...

I like "Zipper" better of the two options. It's fast, active, could be naughty, doesn't have to be.

I like it better, too. It sounds smoother than 'Kickstand', and besides, another of our sisters has a wonderful cat named Zipper!

Seems we're getting an extended monsoon season...
It'll be dry a few days and suddenly rain again with thunderstorms.

In my simple system, everybody is either playa boy or playa girl. Makes it so much easier to remember people's playa names.

It took 6 years for my playa name, YAY!, to evolve from my name, Jaye...

I got mine this year. "flying squirrel"

It sprang out of the fact that I'd wander away or fall behind from the group pretty often. When I realized I'd gotten separated, I'd run at full tilt to catch up making zooming sounds with my arms outstretched in airplane fashion as I overshot them. (actually, it sounded more like "neeeeeyyyoooowwwwwmmmmmmm" if I remember right). That coupled with the fact that I wore my grey and white furry vest complete with hooded ears and tail at night probably reminded people of a flying squirrel. I have no idea what possessed me. It just seemed like the thing to do for the week and the name stuck. =)

After 5 years being "Jason", I posted a thread and narrowed it down to "Zhust". It's pronounced like "just" only with a "zh" like in "Zsa Zsa". Then I adopted it fully for 2010 and actually started to get into it. What I found, though, was if I pronounced it correctly, people would always come back with "zu-hust" so I just say now it's spelled "Zhust" and pronounced "just". Now I get "justin" so I say, "no, just just". The long-and-the-short of it was that I liked the double-meaning of "fair" and "merely". It helps me center my mood, which then gets projected, and it gets echoed back to me. Plus, if the first thing people know is my name, it affects their opinion and behavior, and I've found it much more pleasing an experience.

I may experiment next year and let people call me whatever comes to mind and see what happens.

I got the name froves just a month before my first burn (it was a regional) does that count? ha any way I used to have a clipboard at work with some advertisement for a pill called frova. eventually it got crushed by something and i taped it back together, after a while i covered the whole thing in tape, doodled all over it, and the service guys just started calling me froves haha, i looked into it recently to make sure it wasnt some herpes pill haha its for migraines but the side effects are just ridiculous

My name is Damon. and I've been am, into Anagrams, Palindromes, Semordnilap, Ambigrams, metathesis and other forms of constrained writing.

Damon as a name comes from Greek, it is the root of the word domicile; home, permanent residence. in Greek Damon was Butler, your Resident man. Domesticated.
The palindromic form Nomad is then also a double palindrome where as the Nomad is a resident less person.

I have been on the move since High school, The US Navy took me all over, and afterwards I traveled for years, living sometimes in other countries for years. I really was Damon the Nomad. then one night while some new found friends and I were out Tagging(graffiti) I pulled out a Tag Idea I'd been working on and showed them what I was about to Spray. one of the Guys Said "Hey! what's the big Idea? My Handle is Nomad! I've been spraying this for years in this town. no way!" I hadn't been Tagging for long, and had no Idea how to explain in Spanish the whole Nomad = Damon thing. and then it Hit Me!
Knowmad was born.
I am known in lots of circles by my first name, most of my friends use my given name while talking to me but they use Knowmad to describe me.
