Personal goals for 2012 burn

Yeah, my favorite art this year was the 50-state-plus-DC collection of decorated license plates on the trash fence.

Oh my dear god. You just gave me a complete revelation for an art project next year involving the trash fence posts. Sweet jesus. I have seen the light.

I think it was 04. I have a copy of it, he gave it to me in the hospital. It needs an edit, but it's not bad.

I have a few goals for 2012...my mind may change as time draws closer, but so far so good.

1) Play more capoeira. Went looking this year, found it at center camp and felt instantly blessed. Bunch of great people, well skilled and great to talk to. There was even talk of a capoeira camp/village. My berimbau made it through this year, except for a slight mishap, and will be back next year. Here's to multiple rodas, and muito axé!

2) Def want to bring some art/make stuff. Body painting supplies should come along next year...great way for a shy person to make friends. And I'm good at it, great way give some energy and amplify that which is already beautiful.

3)I am determined to find a playa-mate. Or four. Met this incredible lady atop the Party Snail during the temple burn and got some amazing advice and the funniest stories from her. If she can be open and admit her desire for physical contact, then what kind of a prude am I to repress myself?

4) Work on my costumery. It's the perfect place to be a character.

5) If nothing else gets accomplished, I want to walk the length of the trash fence at least once. I never made it out to deep playa this year, and that's gonna change. There was so much art I didn't see because I didn't stray too far from the city. It's all about exploration next time.

6) Open up and meet new people. Gotta leave the shyness at home. Or maybe make a sign that announces me as a shy guy....so many women I wanted to talk to/dance with, but let my penchant for over thinking scare me away. Im going to do something about that in the default world first. I refuse to be the wallflower at burning man. Nope. Not gonna happen.

Yoga yoga yoga. Meant to go, didnt make it. Shame on me. If the genital portrait studio makes it's appearance next year, def doing that. Meant to, didn't. However, being that plans on the playa seem to change...

If the weather cooperates, I want to take my big amp out onto the deep playa (Roland JC 120 watt) using the same dolly setup (4 wheeled) as last time. I only had the 30 watt with me this year at the temple. The goal is clarity, not loudness and in order to get a good sound you really have to keep the volume on the low end, but this limited my projection area somewhat in order to not have the limitations of the amp kick in creating unwanted distortions, etc...

I was not sure how the playa would support the weight and was concerned that the dolly would sink into the ground even with the wide tires at the bottom. I'm sure it would when wet, but the dry playa was quite a good support for the weight because we had great weather this year. It would be nice to hook it up to a recumbent tricycle to pedal out...

I saw someone pedaling with an entire couch attached to the rear end! Must have been terribly heavy and really difficult to pedal long distance. I didn't get the chance to ask how he did it and he didn't look like a football player who can do 500 lb squats. Maybe it was electric assisted.

Goal 1. Lose at least 50 pounds by then. I have been put on Vyvanse ( time released atterol) so my appetite is like next to nothing and if i do force my self to eat i do eat nearly as much. It also speed up your matoblism so im hoping I will have 50 down by then with this. I still have around 130 to lose though all together.

Goal 2. Save Save Save. Of course I need money for gas,ticket and camp fee. But I want to get some fun lights and make some cool costumes. All cost a bit. Thank god for Halloween and Christmas clearance!

Goal 3. Get my mental health under control. I am doing good with it so far visiting my therapist once a week for a hour and my phyc. once a month for medication management.

Goal 4. To try to change my way of thinking a little bit. I guess really to be more friendly to unknown people and get out in the world a bit more. Eplaya and anybeat have helped me a bit though Thanks guys!

Goal 5. To finish college in May. YAY!

Goal 6. Save up enough to get a nice range of body airbrush paint for body painting on the playa with my airbrush

Goal 7. Get my art project (burning man quilt) supported/funded on kickstarter.

Now some of these goals I hope to get done before I set foot on the playa. Those goals I don't get done beforehand I will attempt to accomplish there. I do not know how or if I can make it happen.

Goal 1. I wish to regain my courage.
Goal 2. I wish to regain my glory
Goal 3. I wish to regain my honor
Goal 4. I wish to regain my strength.
Goal 5. I wish to regain my dignity(at least a little bit of it).
Goal 5. I wish to regain the ability to treat all people with respect, kindness and dignity.

I know these sound vague, but there you go. I'll most likely modify this post(if I can) with more concrete ideas.

2011 turned up some serious flaws:

1. Get in better shape - although in fair shape, the playa kicked my ass.
2. Get used to riding my cruiser bike and maybe make a seat cushion for it.
3. Make some new and better costumes.
4. Lots more EL wire.
5. Find a way to get my large art project to the playa.
6. Bring better food - living out of cans was boring after day 2.
7. Be less shy.

I've started on the fitness by walking or riding to and from work daily, and trying to get at least 2 hours of poi practice in a day using my heavier set of poi. I've dropped 17 pounds since burn week.

On the costume front I've been collecting, modifying, and drawing patterns, but I'm still searching for the perfect fabrics to make them in. Once they are made, I'll start on the EL wire.

5 and 6 will require more thought, and 7 will be a lifelong challenge I suspect.

Plan to buy some Ducth train, pee bags.. If you have to go, you ask the conductor for a bag.. They hand them out on the sprint trains.
These trains have no bathrooms..
So dose any one know where I can buy them in the US?.

I made it there this year and it was glorious. Not to spoil the fun (oh who am I kidding?) but did you know the playa actually falls off the end of the earth at that point? It literally descends into an abyss of nothingness.

Personal goals for 2012:

- More camp-theme-esque costuming.
- Decorate our bikes more.
- Light up an art car.
- Drink less water (i.e. drink just enough water).
- Attend the Meet and Greet by ensuring that my sub-group's meal prep is not the same night.
