Last Minute Reminders.....
Last Minute Reminders.....
Making a list and checking it twice, gonna find out who forgot what. Obviously the necesseties, water, food, shelter. It's the small things that we forget and those small things end up being quite important. Canned foods need a can opener. Lots of extra trash bags are always helpful. Hygiene products and LOTS AND LOTS of TP!!! Everyone uses it and it's nice to have extra in case your neighbor may not have packed so well. If you need to go through a daily schedule of yourself at home. All the things you use daily, you'll need out there too and then some. Ask friends what they're bringing. Just thought I'd remind you NOT TO FORGET YOUR TICKET!!! :)
very helpful burning man packing and tool lists
Hey all
I've found this list invaluble. You can download it from
http://www.crunchymama.com/
It was put together by the fabulous Crunchy, who we just can't live without.
I've also compiled a burning man tool list. It is by no means complete (you need specific tools for specific art projects) but I have found the following list to be a good starter kit to get you through. (add to it as you see fit. More tools. Good.)
Roo's Playa Tool Checklist
ESSENTIALS:
Tool belt (really handy for knowing where everything
is and having on hand)
Hammer
4-way screwdriver
Dikes
Needle-nosed pliers
Mat knife (box cutter) with replacement blades
Flashlight or headlamp
Crescent wrench
Measuring tape
GLOVES
Sharpies
WD40 + a wash rag (for cleaninating and
de-rustifying!)
OTHER GOOD TOOLS TO HAVE:
Cordless screwgun
Cordless circular saw
Staple gun with extra staples
Vice grips
#1 and #2 Grip clips (aka pony clamps or spring
clamps)
Duct tape
Electrical tape
Cloth aka Gaff tape
Fluorescent gaff tape
Sledge hammer (your camp only needs 1 or 2 of these)
Channel locks
Plumber's tape
Safety pins
Clothes pins
Gator grip (universal socket wrench)
Hex key set
Bailing wire
Rope and sash cord

My tool box isn't even that complete. And you kick ass with the poi.
You are my total dream girl. Next time I see you at a show or whatever, I'm gonna have to say "hi".

Why bring TP? The only stuff you can drop in the porta-potties is single ply, which doesn't run out too often these days. I bought a little emergency packet of single ply biodegradable TP 3 years ago and keep bringing it back with me. I still haven't used it.
Do bring paper towels, headlamp, extra flashlight, EXTRA BATTERIES FOR THE LIGHTS, baby powder or gold bond for chafing issues, lots of rope, and some way to carry water around with you.

I would have forgotten about the rent, and didn't even know it was possible to hold mail online.
