I'm certain that there is overlap. I'm also pretty sure that burners on the playa who build their participation around some other concern often find it difficult to be a servant of two masters. So, people my private message you, some may even post, but it is possible that some contentiousness will crop up around this thread.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

(Isn't once a year enough?! We've got eplaya for the rest of the year.)
Not to mention other less taxing vacations some of us might want to take.

I'd heard some people on another site talk about a project called 'permaburn' - from what little I know, it sounds similar to what you're looking for.

Trilo, I was a website for a permaburn camp when I first arrived in eplaya. It had a few single-wides of people living there and a projection of what will be done to and with the property etc. Unless I was Gullible Ann that day.

Permaculture is an agricultural philosophy? set of practices? It's basically trying to grow animals in a plants in a way that doesn't injure the soil. It was started by an Australian, I think his name is Mulison. (Muleson? no, different problem altogether.)
The Wikipedia article has this to say:
Permaculture is an approach to designing human settlements and agricultural systems that is modeled on the relationships found in nature. It is based on the ecology of how things interrelate rather than on the strictly biological concerns that form the foundation of modern agriculture. Permaculture aims to create stable, productive systems that provide for human needs; it's a system of design where each element supports and feeds other elements, ultimately aiming at systems that are virtually self-sustaining and into which humans fit as an integral part.
I don't know a whole lot about it, but I do think agriculture reform is needed.
