Christina: Queen of BRC

Never met any of that crew...can't say what they were like. Tried to flag them down a couple times to chat but just got a head shake, smile and wave. Not once did i ever see it slow down AND there always seemed to be the same people on it. if one wants to give to the community, perhaps consider more than just drive-by waves.
I thought the MV was cool and wanted to meet and talk to the creator(s). But it seemed like too much of an effort to give whomever kudos.

And now you're on here asking for accolades.

I noticed you guys bailed on bringing Christina in to your 8: and Bish parking spot and instead seemed to stop her outside of Playaskool.

What happened?

(We were Playaskool's neighbor's at 8:10 and A. Watched the boat run aground once into Playaskool's shower structure. Yikes!)

I would like to pause the debate for one second and focus on the reason I created this thread --- Christina. There are other forums on these message boards where you can debate the meaning of Burning Man or dissect people's motives.

It looks like most of the posts here are dealing with Christina (and the original post, which counts), they just may not be saying what you wish they were.

It's a public forum, you can't expect just getting yes-men on here anymore than you can on the real playa; people on eplaya are free to express their feeling towards your post. You are also free to post in other threads whether or not you agree with the OP.

Burning Man and the eplaya are lovely like that, with the whole "diversity of opinions" thing.

I guess we differ on what constitutes "amazing."

One late night in 2006 I was with a friend of mine and we wanted to find the camp that made grilled cheese sandwiches but we were on the other side of the Playa. This guy comes by in a German U-boat and we ask if we can get on. He says okay and says his name is Doug but his Playa name is Steve. We ask if he's up for grilled cheese sandwiches and he says that his friend was supposed to bring him food but he hasn't eaten. So we cruise over to the inner street where the grilled cheese camp is, but they've closed up. Some people are milling around and we said we brought a boat and they agree to turn on the griddles again just for us. We had a swell time with them. Afterward Steve takes us on a tour of things that go speedbump in the night. It's astounding how many passed-out people there are in open Playa.

To me, that was amazing.

Interesting - modifying a yacht to fit on a mobile frame.

One seems very artistic and inspired while the other seems very reality TV...

All behavior/personality judgements aside: While I respect anyone that builds.. hell.. ANYTHING out there.. I've seen many, many, MANY other art cars more impressive or creative than the Christina. I mean really all it has going for it is the semi-shock value of a giant boat. But.. that's all it is.. an old boat on a giant chassis with honestly some pretty cheesy and poorly drawn/painted blue "waves" on the side.

I've seen WAY more creative and impressive golf cart based art cars. I've seen 63428723894728375632 times more impressive school bus/other large chassis based art cars. This idea that this old POS boat on top of cement truck chassis is some be all, end all, "Queen" of anything? Uh.. uhm. Ok.





I mean.. I may have thought it was cool before and I do still.. but wow. I'm personally a mix of shocked/disgusted/head shaking/wow at the amount of holier-than-thou-art car-ness going on. I knew it was bad before, but this takes the cake..

Would I like to ride on her? Um, just to have done it. Will I ever get the chance? Nope. I have a horrible fear of ladders, and I just ain't a pretty playa pony. That's okay.

The FB thing? Sure, whatever, not my cup of tea. But then, the fucking Trash Fence has a FB page and I Like that.
