Don't mind me. It's just nice to meet ePlayans that are also close by IRL. Lots of folks are spread out around the globe but it feels like most burners are from the west coast. And DC is just so freakin' stuffy it's fun to know folks that think outside the box.

Edit: Nope -- not the only one. I'm on vacation today too.

There are a lot of forums I've been on that had really low tolerances for new members, were exceptionally biased towards "veterans," and mods (or rather admins) were granted virtually complete immunity for any kind of action fair or unfair. It was ridiculous now that I think back on it. Unfortunately, I took part in some of those forum oligarchies, and while it seemed cool at the time (in my immaturity) belonging to the "club", those policies really degraded the entire culture of the forum, stifled new ideas, and dissuading new folk from participating.

I don't know if it's official policy for mods on this board, but stuff like quietly editing out only the offending portion of posts without outright terminating the post, and notifying and explaining the issue to people, speaks loudly of the discretion and even-handedness of the mods. Many would just axe the post altogether, and perhaps issue a temporary ban for the offense.

This forum needs a :handjob: smiley for those suck-up-ish posts like the above could be taken as. Here we go:

Thank you, BBadger. We're really trying. And consulting the more experienced mods when something is iffy.

Basically, if we're doing it right, it's barely noticeable (as it should be).

after the email I got back from the said mod, I am still wondering if I should even be here. I really am not digging this vibe from this person and it is REALLY sucking the fun out of being here and giving me second thoughts about even going at this point.

I never went do to work conflicts. I had MANY friends in PDX who where burners and met one of my b/f's (also a burner) through this group. So for someone to say that... not really ok.

PS If my behavior is bad. I would like to see good behavior. Cause that must be you are a nun or a saint. Just sayin.
