Re: 2012 Halloween Costumes
In Nevada we always have a 3 day Halloween weekend thanks to Nv day being Oct 30th. YAY so I've got a couple of ideas. One of them will be of course Satan in her Halliburton fireman coveralls (where else would the devil work) and I am thinking of some other ideas, yet to be decided. I like to play with make-up/face paint...
One of my other ideas is going as a mexican gang banger. I did this one year complete with brown body paint, even painted my hands, neck, etc. and wore the requisite uniform of, flannel buttoned only on the top button, wife beater, baggy jeans and blue bandana. Plus painted a mustache on, no one knew who I was. It was at a house party and some of the people there gave me nervous looks at first. Best costume ever

Oh my god, it's HUGE!

We have an obligation to make space for everyone, we have no obligation to make that space pleasant.
Re: 2012 Halloween Costumes
Huge problem for me here, as ALL my costumes are still in Arizona.
I did suggest to Ken that perhaps I could get a few metres of vinyl and make a big sheath for myself with some tubing sticking out of it.... and then spend the evening running amok and being rude and disorderly....
....and he could have a sign around his neck saying "Please don't ask me about my bladder problem".
But again.
Around here in FrancoLand, noone would get it.
So I'm open to suggestions.

Re: 2012 Halloween Costumes
Found the perfect Halloween dress at Goodwill the other day and snapped it up immediately. It's just this black, indescribable dress, other than it's very obviously meant for Halloween (not in that it's trashy, but in the material used).
I can re-use it as I please, because it'd work well as a zombie, witch, vampire or just about anything like that. But I chose to make a headband with bats flying over my head. I plan to paint my face with a sugar skull and I'm going to be "batty" for Halloween.
Here's a picture of the bat headband:

Well, I plan on starting the night dressed as little red riding hood. Then I plan on finishing the night dressed as a shit show in a red cape.

I was planning on going to a party, so I was thinking of something a little more formal than my usual digs.

Re: 2012 Halloween Costumes
I'm a Druid so I celebrate Halloween as " Samhain ".
On Saturday the 29th, I plan to visit James Lanning, a friend of mine and past Burning Man participant. He's throwing a Halloween party that night and will have a bonfire going. I am hoping he builds a Wicker Man burning effigy as well. That would be sooo damn cool!
I celebrate Samhain from sunset on October 31st to Midnight on October 3rd. Samhain is the biggest holiday on the druid Wheel of the Year calendar. It is a time when we especially honor our passed on ancestors. We also celebrate it as a late harvest festival, fall festival and it begins the " dark half " of the year. It is also historically the beginning of the Celtic New Year. It, along with Beltaine ( 1-2 May ) is the biggest fire festival of the year.
I will light a fire in my wood-burning firepot as well as my gelled alcohol firepots on Samhain's eve ( Oct 31st ) and light my candles, and burn my Spirit Blend as I meditate and pray to my ancestors. My mother especially. She passed away this last July 27th. I will do the same on the nights of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Hopefully on one of the days I will find time to go on a forest hike and do a ritual there to thank God and Mother Dana ( Nature ) for the harvest and for living to see another autumn. At home during the day(s) I will celebrate by playing Samhain/Halloween related music and will keep a few Samhain-specific candles lit.
May all of you have a wonderful Samhain?Halloween!!

I'm making a Wagnerian Valkyrie costume this year.
And due to intensive warnings on their site - here's the stuff to put in your search box to see what I mean:

My ladyfriend's costume for the Doctor Who fans...
Hot off my sewing machine... I made the choker from scratch (It's a little loose, as I didn't lace it up for the photo.) I just finished some alterations on the dress.

There's some pieces left to do, but it's coming together nicely.
***ETA - clarification that it's my ladyfriend, not me... as much as I feel it inside, I am not a pretty lady.***
