Do you find pleasure in pain and peace dark music offers?

Post by wh..sh » Sat Oct 22, 2011 11:52 am

Not sure if this post is allowed on this forum. But let me take my chances. If not, sorry about breaking some rules. Meh...

When I was younger, I was paranoid about sharing the books and music I liked. I was afraid that by sharing books and music, I was actually sharing the beautiful emotions I associated with it. I was possessive of how I felt. My shrink says, that's got to stop. I need to open my heart and share with the world what I find beautiful. So this is the step 1 of that therapy and that son of a gun better be right!

I am usually not the one promoting independent artists. But this music I discovered by an independent artist is quite close to my heart and my head. I love haunting violin music. The artist has composed the music as well as created the videos.

PS: I don't make any money by promoting this music. I just want to share this music with a community that might appreciate it.
And if you can, sure go ahead and support the artist or just listen for your own pleasure.
In my world there's only legible and more legible.

Now, now, now... what makes you think I have anything "worthwhile" to share. I am positively offended by this impression of me.

I thought this was kinky sex thread until I saw you in here, Fishy!

Good idea to point our OP at the listening thread but, I don't get much out of that one myself.

Woosh or however you are pronounced :) I appreciate you sharing here, though, being a basically happy person I prefer something less lugubrious. I meet enough misery in daily life to not need any in my music.

But it is beautifully evocative stuff. Thanks.

Wh..sh,

Nice music, though I do not find it especially " dark ". It gives me more of a melancholy relaxed feeling.

Many people may find some of Sarah McLachlan's early albums, like " Touch " and " Solace " dark and sad. This is probably so but I have always found her portrayal of this kind of emotion being both erotic and soulful. I have seen no one do it better than her.

I do not understand the mod's harsh reaction to your post.

I called it dark because it very melancholic. But there is also peace in it.
Thanks Hauthe for sharing Sarah McLachlan. I wasn't aware of her at all.

And don't mind the mods, some are just tough cookies ;-)

The apt description that was brought to light earlier was "persnickety".

I like everything that Sarah McLachlan has done but her two first CD's are my favorites. Touch and Solace. When at her best, her voice is just stunningly beautiful. She is among my favorites, along with Loreena McKennitt and Enya.

Some of the darkest I know comes from this band.

It is.... visceral and blood soaked.

Yes, the song is what you think it is about...

I thought Sham was being silly, not critizing. It's so hard to read tone here...
