Increasing the "View new posts" que length
Any way we could get a longer listing of the "new posts" instead of whatever metric it's using now to limit how far back they are shown?

Funny you should mention that...

...because you just got done shortening it?

No, because I had just finished configuring newsfeeds. While I was doing that, I bumped the board's configuration from displaying 15 items to 30. Were you seeing a higher number than that before?

Sometimes the "View new posts" showed two pages of new things--but that hasn't seemed to be the case for a while now.

Doing more reading, the setting I changed was specific to the newsfeed and not the 'View New Posts' list. That one has no configuration option, it's based on the user's last session. Want a longer list? Log out of the site when you're done browsing (and don't just leave a tab or window open on your desktop like I do) and wait a longer period of time between visits.

Yeah exactly. Sometimes it's two pages, sometimes it's not even a full page. I notice earlier in the morning that it's shorter, so I'm assuming that it's using a time based metric instead of a thread count?Savannah wrote:Sometimes the "View new posts" showed two pages of new things--but that hasn't seemed to be the case for a while now.

It only shows the new posts since you're last log-in (or if you've been on all day, since you last refreshed you're browser). If you want to see when that is, check the Index Page: The reason you're not seeing many posts now (less than a page) is because there just aren't that many new posts right now- welcome to the slow season. You'll see more when people start posting more again- probably around ticket-time.junglesmacks wrote:Yeah exactly. Sometimes it's two pages, sometimes it's not even a full page. The 'last visit' stat is also relatively flakey if you browse the site with multiple windows/tabs, in my opinion. Technically I haven't stopped being on the site in more than a week (my home machine is always on, and I've always got at least one tab on the site), but currently it says my last login was 12:50am. Earlier today (in a different window), it said 3:05am.

Re: Increasing the "View new posts" que length
I leave the eplaya open on my work computer all day (it's my homepage) and every now and then I'll pop on to it to see what's going on. I also noticed that when I first open it in the am that there's only one page worth of new post's and figured it's the slow time of year. Although, it does refresh the new post's everytime I click out of read topic. Am I missing new posts somewhere?

Re: Increasing the "View new posts" que length
Not likely. If anything, it's erring on the side of showing you a few you'd previously seen as new from time to time.
Re: Increasing the "View new posts" que length
I find that Introductions and Open Discussion will often have new posts that aren't listed in "new posts" (because there is a limit to the display, or some general wackiness). So, I use "view new posts" as a guide, but often have a look at the main index page and look for the red markings that indicate new activity as well.
