What she said. Not what I was expecting at all.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

What, you can't see the little lumps of pot in those cookies?

It works, though! It gets hot enough on the dash of a closed car to make cookies over the course of the day, with the added benefit of your car smelling like cookies for a while after.

I just saw a video of that on the news...on a report about the heat wave the country is experiencing now. Cookies and of course eggs on the sidewalk.

I'm imaging that on the playa and it seems wonderful - a nice warm fresh cookie when the sun is going down. I may just have to indulge myself in doing something like this.
Smile, who cares if you don't have all your teeth.
Re: baking at burning man
OOOK Looks awesome!!
Last year I pre-made 2 batches of chocolate chip cookies, stored them in zip lock bags then in an air tight container. They were rationed out throughout the week and lasted!!
I kept them in my tent and the warmth of the day made them taste just like they came out of the oven.
And if you're strict about rationing them you will have lots to indulge on during breakdown!

One of my camp mates made a solar cooker, and was making banana bread, a pound cake, and chocolate peanut butter muffin bread... it smelled SO good.

Re: baking at burning man
HAHA!! I baked biscuits every morning on the Playa this year, and baked bread for lunch for our sandwiches. I only used my BBQ.
My playa neighbors thought I was crazy. But that didn't stop them from enjoying what I made. I offered biscuits and gravy
every morning to them. My cooking on the playa isn't much different than the way I cook at home.
We had tacos on Tues., pizza on Wed., chinese food on Fri., and ribs on Sat.
Turn on one side to control the heat and put the fixins on the other side, and close the lid. I learned this years ago growing
up on a farm. We used to even bake cakes.

Re: baking at burning man
A friend of mine baked biscuits & fried bacon every morning. Eaten together, you didn't even want butter; there was enough grease in the bacon.
Needless to say, he's a god among men.

Re: baking at burning man
That's great! If you want to bake something in the evening and don't have a fully equipped kitchen try this.
Buy a silicone camping cup, or any high temp resistant silicone cup, bowl, e.t.c. The guyot designs squishy cups and the GSI or GCI fold flat cups and bowls work well.
Place in a pot with roughly half a cup of water (depends on the size of the pot, and the burner you are using).
Dump premix into the cup, fire up your burner and cover it. Time would be roughly the same as in the oven for whatever you are making, to check if it's done stab it with a toothpick, if it comes out clean it's done.
I do this camping on a small backpacking stove and tiny pot all the time.
There are other ways to bake using a stove top and a pot but that's the easiest and you don't have to buy specialty items that are only good for baking.
If you see some weirdo baking little personal sized cups of chocolate souffles come on over and say hi, I might even make you one.

If you bake it, I will come...as in "show up" for you trash minds... (crap...a guy can't say anything without some kind of snark appended).
Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.
