Re: OCCUPYWALLSTREET REINFORCEMENTS!
I just wanted to quote a bit from the article in hopes it will entice more people to click on the link and read it.
A good rule of thumb for life is that if the Chinese government is against it, you're probably doing something right. The latest evidence to support this axiom is the Occupy Wall Street movement, which has spread from lower Manhattan to cities around the globe, including London, Auckland, Toronto, and Rome, among many others. Terrified by OWS' viral growth, the oppressive regime controlling China is taking measures to ensure the protests don't happen there. And it's starting with the internet.

Re: OCCUPYWALLSTREET REINFORCEMENTS!
China has the best capitalism possible. Capitalism backed by a totalitarian regime exercising oppressive police & military control over its populace.
The younger generation of Chinese laborers and high tech workers are very unhappy with pay and working conditions. The gov fears them in particular.
And now from our candidate who believes space aliens brought Jesus to America..... Mitt-Flip-Flop:
Mitt Romney presented himself at Wednesday night's debate as "a man of steadiness and constancy."
But one response the former Massachusetts governor gave, on a crucial issue of economic policy, might not help bolster that image.
Asked at the outset of the debate whether he would allow Italy to fail (meaning he would allow its government to default on its debt) and whether the United States has a stake in the ongoing eurozone crisis, Romney said he would take a hands-off approach. "Europe is able to take care of their own problems," he said.
Romney added that he opposed bailing out banks on either side of the Atlantic. "There will be some who say here that banks in the U.S. that have Italian debt, that we ought to help those, as well," he said. "My view is no, no, no. We do not need to step in to bail out banks either in Europe or banks here in the U.S. that may have Italian debt."
Sounds clear enough. But asked a related, though different, question at a debate last month -- what he'd do if a Eurozone crisis put the global financial system on the brink of collapse -- Romney, in contrast with his rivals, sounded much more open to getting involved.

Re: OCCUPYWALLSTREET REINFORCEMENTS!
I still have the same question..
Who or what is supposed to respond to ?what? ever the Occupy Wall Street is yelling about?
Even if some "body' was to try and speak to OP.. There is no "one" to hear,, Occupy is headless.. OP is the 1% with the 99% watching the show..
600 000 transfering money, out of 75 million don't come near even 1%..
Some one needs to get in front of this parade and lead it out of the wilderness.

But wisely, Occupy Denver elected a dog as head because some official demanded it (see a page or so back in this thread). As soon as there is a head, elites will twist the arms of that head to get it to fall in line. Problem "solved" and the original issues get swept under the rug. It is the reason why I say just be a pain in the ass for now until the people see they are not powerless to change things. Elites will not listen and have proven that they will use violence to keep the status quo if they can't trick you into forfeiting your position using various dirty tricks.
This is just the beginning of an era similar to the 60's that will probably last the rest of the decade.

I agree with you here. It's all well and good for a movement to be so genuinely grass-roots that there are no leaders. But there comes a point where change requires strategy and discipline. It's not always a bad thing.unjonharley wrote:I still have the same question..

Re: OCCUPYWALLSTREET REINFORCEMENTS!
Why? We just stay in the streets protesting and let the growing numbers do the talking. As the numbers grow larger, the numbers alone will be enough for the government to get the message. Hell, it's not like nobody knows exactly what is wrong.
And look at all the other mini protests that are taking place because of OWS. I just saw an advertisement for Saturday being shop America day (though this one is being promoted by American Express, but hopefully somebody will encourage everyone to pay with cash), and another group is starting a campaign to encourage everyone to shop small stores on black Friday. Elected officials hate it when they see so much unrest, with nobody wanting to accept the staus quo any longer. Power to the People!

Occupy Portland will be removed 1201 Monday morning next..
There is a donation set up to help repair the park..
No word yet where the protester will move to..
They need to clear out the drugs, crime, arson and street people..

If they cannot twist his arm they will try to discredit him as a leader or destroy him personaly. Or he may "accidentally" get run over while crossing the street to get a hamburger. Best not to give the elites a good target to aim at.

Actually, if you dont do the required reading you shouldn't be taking the class. Just "discussing" thoughts and feelings for the sake of discussion doesn't really move the conversation forward. Doing some reading on what's happening in the streets gives a better platform for having more meaningful discourse.ygmir wrote:dang........it sort of defeats the purpose of dialog, by posting articles and links to articles, well, at least for me.

I don't see any problem with citing the links. It's generally good info Bro.It relates to the Occupy topic here. Scholarly studies usually require source citing...this thread is largely a scholarly pursuit, except for the few here who like to throw spit balls from the back of the class.....lemur wrote:HEY SOLA GANGSTASola Gangsta wrote:http://www.lamag.com/citythinkblog/blog ... oh, I'd disagree (teacher)...........I'd say discussing thoughts and feelings, is the only way, to work stuff out.jkisha wrote:Actually, if you dont do the required reading you shouldn't be taking the class. Yes, information is important, and, as this is a current, evolving event, can be important related to dynamics.
But, when the thread contains link after link, video after video, I'm just sayin, for me ( I speak for no one else), it becomes boring.
Trust me, to do my own research, or glean my own info.
I'll come here, to discuss, tease, chat, and drift, in this thread.
I will not very often, follow links. Especially links offered by some, since I feel they'll be very slanted or biased.
OK, not that that's not ok (why does that look like a palandrome?) but, I'll find and read what I want, and digest it, as I see fit.
