So many paint "conservatives" as republican ( I so bet there are a lot of democrat conservatives) and, with the brush dipped in "FAR right thought". When, I'd bet, the majority of those who think themselves "conservative", are just good ole regular folks, doing what they do.

I am conservative in some ways, liberal or progressive in maybe more, radical in a few. I pay taxes, buy Girl Scout cookies, go to county and city meetings to make my voice heard. I shoot my guns at the range with all the good ole boys who hunt and vote republican and I go to baseball games and stand for the anthem and remove my hat. I love baseball, always have always will. My Mom loves Bill O'Reilly and I love her. I deeply respect all our vets, especially the ones who saw nasty combat and count some of them as my friends. I love by brothers and sisters from Greenpeace, especially the ones of us who lived through nasty shit and some of the other environmental movements. I love my friends in the labor movement. I love real down in the dirt democracy and will fight for it. I hate deceit and the merchants of deceit especially when they're dressed in religious garb or broadcasting on our public airwaves.

So am I a conservative? A liberal? A radical? I'd like to think a little bit of all, but most of all, a lover of democracy.

It's better to dispense with conservative vs liberal, republican vs democrat & c, because these terms are now tools of elite spin doctors having digressed from their original meaning. They are terms of obfuscation and division used to divide people so that the 1% can laugh all the way to the bank. Sure we all have our side issues that we want (often called "pork" by the opposing sect), but if this one issue (of economic disparity and the laws that promote it) isn't tackled soon, then there will eventually be no other issues that will matter. You might win your fight to bear arms but not be able to afford them, be allowed your gay wedding, but unable to fund it, allowed to assemble on public land, without any public land left because it was all bought by the 1%...

i figured as much about you, cowboy. i could say the same about myself. and i value your opinion, as well as those of various other characters around here, including my former neighbor JK, who i would love to have for dinner again, if only he were still down the street! the most important thing we can do is listen to others, and acknowledge our own shortcomings. it isn't always easy to tell who is deceitful. and i will always suggest that there is plenty of truth on both sides. the important thing is to remain open to hearing it.

One works for Shasta County as a resource biologist (his wife lost her job throwing the little family into turmoil) the other, a nice guy who lost his construction job and tried his best to get a loan mod from rape bank Well Fargo, but no go. This financial collapse is real. We the 99% look on the state of America and see huge profits being made by the banks and corporations who screwed us and got bailed out, and we have finally said ENOUGH. The Occupy Movement is only the first stage in a revolt that will sprout yet newer expressions. The 1% and their craven putrid servants in both parties now know that we are not going away. There is a sizable number of returning vets who are returning from a war only to find an empty promise from the country they put their lives on the line for. They are not going away either. We're at the end of the line in this society. Too many people see through the bullshit and last best purveyor of 'hope" has now become the king of bullshit.
