Medication help?!

Post by rubyredalys » Tue Aug 24, 2004 9:41 pm

hey all. i have spoken to a few of you before and i have a real emergency.
i am on medi-cal through the state of california and take a medication that, among other things prevents seizures.

i am only allowed 8 rx meds a month, (this would be my 9th) and i need this one early in order to have enough pills on the playa.

cal optima (the state of california's insurance) may not approve my early rx, i won't know until tomorrow.

here is my question...is anyone leaving on the first of september from the bay area that could go to walgreens and pick up my medication? i really don't want to go without it. (understatement)

i can have it sent to any walgreens in the bay (or cal for that matter) that could get it, meet up with me and deliver it safely. message or pm me if you think you could help.

Not much help, but I'm sympathetic, as we deal with this sort of crap ourselves? could you get it to a Walgreens in reno, and have someone pick it up from there? do it through your local--I mean call them and ask.

Yeah, what da Fish said. Talk to your pharmacist, find out where the closest Walgreens in Reno is, ask them to transfer the scrip for the next refill. (I've had to do it myself before....)

called the reno walgreens...they won't take it because it is a ca insurance...unless i pay cash ($175) or am on medicaid.

i take depakote (anti convulsant)

but thanks for the 3 with concern...i called today and they have granted me enough pills to take.

thanks all! see you on monday.

ps...those in the medic tent, is there someone i could talk to anyway if i get a lil uneasy? most of these meds are only 2 weeks in my system.

Darn shame that Walgren's cant do the money transfer. . . I mean they brag enough about how you can get your scrip filled anywhere. Oh yeah, I forgot, poor people aren't supposed to travel and have vacations. After all, their lives are non-stop fun.
Yes there are people at the med stations who can talk to you. REMSA is in center camp--they may have actual doctors, not sure. EMTs with some nurses at 3o'clock and 9 o'clock plaza. I'll be camping near three, not that I'm an expert. But in a sympathetic ear sort of way, and if it's easier to apporach someone you almost sort of know. Ask for Chukka.
And yes, I know that Depakote is a darned pricey medication. I hope it works out for you. (We had to go through quite the finagle to make sure that we had all needed meds before heading out.)
