I'm not sure about that. What this is all leading to is their arrests and convictions for fraud, theft and conspiracy (yeah look it up- conspiracy is a crime). Over a million people have lost their homes because of these rotten scum sucking bastards. There's no turning back. The Occupy Movement will morph into its next phase- revolutionary politics and the emergence of a new peoples party. America's gone through this before. It will again.CosmicCarl wrote:If we fix this, we will have saved the asses of the men who built this situation. When/If the concede to the demands of the public, they will then turn this into their own heroic story of how they defeated the evils in American Society. I say:

Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

UNfortunately, their definition of "change" is money/profit. Unless all proceeds are donated to OWS I think this company should be put on the boycott list.A Rocawear spokesperson told the publication: "The 'Occupy All Streets' T-shirt was created in support of the 'Occupy Wall Street' movement. Rocawear strongly encourages all forms of constructive expression, whether it be artistic, political or social. 'Occupy All Streets' is our way of reminding people that there is change to be made everywhere, not just on Wall Street. At this time we have not made an official commitment to monetarily support the movement."

Re: OCCUPYWALLSTREET REINFORCEMENTS!
Occupy at present is all about message and symbolism. What's the diff if some fleabagger scrawls something on his clothing with a Sharpie, or he buys a prefab T-shirt from Rocawear? Ultimately it all came from some sweatshop operation.

Thanks for going to the OWS march jkisha, even though you didn't really get to march, yet.
SG, great moveon(dot)org youtube! I help moveon from time to time....one time me and mine sat and jammed fax machines by calling manually repeat dialing for hours and hours jamming up lobbyists' fax machines in Washington, fighting high health Insurance costs/issues. Monsters, they raised my rates ten fold!
moveon dot org does plenty of other good things, IMO.
Many of their causes don't ask for doughsky, so anyone can help, and it would not detract from the burn in $ terms.

Re: OCCUPYWALLSTREET REINFORCEMENTS!
so, JK, if you aren't with the protesters you are a 1% ... ? you might want to think about that one .....
i read this article you posted to facebook. i've been waiting for you to post it here, but you didn't so i will.
a pull quote:
but the rest of it? maybe it's just me ...... i don't watch much TV or pay for cable, so commercials don't bother me. i live in an inexpensive place and work part time, so the money-crazed culture of places like LA don't bother me. my only real gripe about washington is that everyone worries more about getting elected than fixing problems.
but this ... But modern America has become a place so drearily confining and predictable that it chokes the life out of that built-in desire. Everything from our pop culture to our economy to our politics feels oppressive and unresponsive. ... WTF???? it seems to me that there is more stuff to work from than there ever has been, an absolutely mind-boggling amount of stuff readily available to anyone who wants to dig in.... internet, books, art, you name it. i moved to an arts backwater, but found that i can take an online art class from MOMA. it's fucking amazing. how anyone can be so bored in such a time amazes me.
i mean, honestly. do you think that any of these complaints are specific to our time? i don't get it.
i read this article you posted to facebook. i've been waiting for you to post it here, but you didn't so i will.
a pull quote:
i agree somewhat with the last bit. it's ridiculous how the banks and credit cards gouge you if you miss a payment or bounce a check or something. i hate them as much as anyone, and like you have been working with an alternate banking source for several years. What both sides missed is that OWS is tired of all of this. They don't care what we think they're about, or should be about. They just want something different.
We're all born wanting the freedom to imagine a better and more beautiful future. But modern America has become a place so drearily confining and predictable that it chokes the life out of that built-in desire. Everything from our pop culture to our economy to our politics feels oppressive and unresponsive. We see 10 million commercials a day, and every day is the same life-killing chase for money, money and more money; the only thing that changes from minute to minute is that every tick of the clock brings with it another space-age vendor dreaming up some new way to try to sell you something or reach into your pocket. The relentless sameness of the two-party political system is beginning to feel like a Jacob's Ladder nightmare with no end; we're entering another turn on the four-year merry-go-round, and the thought of having to try to get excited about yet another minor quadrennial shift in the direction of one or the other pole of alienating corporate full-of-shitness is enough to make anyone want to smash his own hand flat with a hammer.
If you think of it this way, Occupy Wall Street takes on another meaning. There's no better symbol of the gloom and psychological repression of modern America than the banking system, a huge heartless machine that attaches itself to you at an early age, and from which there is no escape. You fail to receive a few past-due notices about a $19 payment you missed on that TV you bought at Circuit City, and next thing you know a collector has filed a judgment against you for $3,000 in fees and interest. Or maybe you wake up one morning and your car is gone, legally repossessed by Vulture Inc., the debt-buying firm that bought your loan on the Internet from Chase for two cents on the dollar. This is why people hate Wall Street. They hate it because the banks have made life for ordinary people a vicious tightrope act; you slip anywhere along the way, it's 10,000 feet down into a vat of razor blades that you can never climb out of.
That, to me, is what Occupy Wall Street is addressing. People don't know exactly what they want, but as one friend of mine put it, they know one thing: FUCK THIS SHIT! We want something different: a different life, with different values, or at least a chance at different values

I think that what he is talking about can best be summed up by what George Carlin once said about the nature of our choices in this country. He said that the more important the choice the more likely you only have a handful of options and usually only two in the really important areas such as Democrat / Republican, but when it comes to unimportant choices such as flavors of ice cream you get 38... 100 different cable channels on infomercials, etc.littleflower wrote:but this ... Re: OCCUPYWALLSTREET REINFORCEMENTS!
I find interesting stuff wherever I look. Had some tech problems at the Occupy Oakland today with my live stream but got some great video & great interviews and will post it soon.
The place actually didn't stink. Porta-poties are there and being used. Yeah, there's quite a bunch of homeless mixed in but I never saw any tensions. The free food people are really cool. Derrick Jensen and crew were great too. I think there must have been around 150 tents! On straw. What's cool about the Occupy Movement is the fact that it has staying power. I don't think we're gonna see it go away. You know why? Because the recession isn't gonna be going away. In fact it will probably be getting worse. Banks have a strangle hold on our gov and society and it's killing us. 40% of the cost of everything is interest charges. See my post from Ellen Brown above for the cite. Their time of power is coming to an end. Aldous Huxley wrote his famous "Brave New World"...I think that's what we're seeing now. And the brave are the 99% who are doing something about it.
End bank tyranny!
