Re: The official BMORG statement on 2012 tickets and theme:
I'm not really sure, it just sounds backwards to me. I mean, wouldn't most people want to feel they at least had a chance of winning a lower tier ticket? So to just go ahead and bid high, but then to know that the high level tickets would go first just doesn't seem right somehow. It's like it takes all the luck out of it. If that's the case, why not just use the old system and start opening day with the highest priced tickets then, and go in reverse order? No lower tier tickets would be sold until the hogher tiers sold out.theCryptofishist wrote:Please explain....jkisha wrote:That's even a worse scenario.ygmir wrote:

What exactly would be the incentive to even want to get into the lottery early then?

Re: The official BMORG statement on 2012 tickets and theme:
You only have two weeks to get into the lottery. Doesn't matter if you want first or fifth tier.
And you can't start selling tickets with the high ones, because then people will wait for the lower tier ones--remember, they need the early money to start paying salaries, designing the man, repairing things, buying the supplies. They can't do that if no one's buying because they are waiting for the lower price tickers.

OK, so say I get in within those two weeks. I say I am willing to pay whatever the highest tier is. Will I still have a chance to win one of the lowest price tickets?

Re: The official BMORG statement on 2012 tickets and theme:
I still read this lottery this way....
Each tier price will have it own lottery..
You put your money down on the price/tier you want to bet on..
The wheel spins some one get a ticket..
Again and again until that tier runs out of tickets.
Other wise this could drag out until next Sept.
Not knowing if I will beat to odds on a tier I bet on, has stopped all projects.
Also all projects for other camp are on hold. I will not make a cut until I know.. That way I can return the shit to the store.. Some things wont be done for the lack of time waiting for the BMorg to act..

Re: The official BMORG statement on 2012 tickets and theme:
At the very worst, if they only did a single lottery and everybody was ready to go with cash in hand (well, money in bank) in January, you'd have an 85% chance of being able to get a ticket. If there are multiple rounds and you're there from the start, your chances only go up.

%100% agree.
I wonder how many other camps, artists,"volunteers" or general attendees won't see the point in waiting around to see if they luck into tickets to execute projects that are more or less a year-round endeavor, which used to include budgeting for ticket costs and amount of tickets needed, especially if you dont have $ in the bank at all times, or can plan on sporadic c.card billing.

For me it isn't the price of the ticket.. I have saved bout 400 for that..
It's not knowing if I bet on the right tier.. If my number dose not spin up on my tier there are no provisions for me to move to another tier. The time waiting for the first try is bad enough.. Even if the BMorg opens first come after the lottery time is shot..
OH Who the hell am I kidding.. No one is interested in what I bring to the playa.
Larry has had his 15.. Burning Rave is the next big thing.. The first spirit killer was Larry not pulling a theme out of his ass. No one plays his themes but we played off then.
I'll be bring my tent and bike and be a look lue.. Throw my trash on the ground, dig a hole to shit in and dump grey water.. I payed for a ticket, let the borg deal with my waste..
Re: The official BMORG statement on 2012 tickets and theme:
So, I guess the safe thing to do is to register 4 times and put your name in each tier's lottery. If I end up winning more then the 2 tickets I need, I'll just sell the others (for cost.. I make enough $$ I don't need to screw fellow burners.)
(Well, future fellow Burners.. I guess I can't call myself a Burner until I pop my dusty cherry.)

Re: The official BMORG statement on 2012 tickets and theme:
Buying more tickets than you need and then selling them on CL is what will put them into the hands of Scalpers.
They don't have the patience, or the outlay to get them in the Lottery, BUT buying them from CL from Burners who have the ethic of ALWAYS SELLING AT FACE VALUE will create that scalper market.
It'll be close to the event, so lots of scrambling for tickets. Quick turn arounds, high markups.
Shop as usual, and avoid panic buying.

Re: The official BMORG statement on 2012 tickets and theme:
100% agree, that's why I wouldn't sell them on CL.. I would sell them to friends of mine that were planning on going that didn't get a winning lottery number. And if they all have tickets, I would find someone on the forum that looks repetuable and sell/gift it. I'm not hurting for cash, I just 100% want one. And I think it would be cool to help a veteran burner that got screwed by the system (even though I'm sure there won't be many if all works out well.)Nipple wrote:Buying more tickets than you need and then selling them on CL is what will put them into the hands of Scalpers.

For example.. If I seen you on here in 9 months needing a ticket and I had an extra, I would feel confident selling you one for face value/ below cost because I've seen you all over this forum. If it was someone who had as many posts as me, I would probably tell them to fuck off (sorry remi, but you just reak BM virginity.)
Did I just refer to myself in the 3rd person? Good morrow!
