so the email i recieved from you says the tickets will be sold in a lottery way? so you're saying that i give you my credit card information and MAYBE i will get 'picked' to be elligible for a ticket... i am having a hard time wrapping my head around this... i think i want to cry. because this means no matter how prepaired i get or how much money i save... my going is in your hands? my heart broke as i read the letter. idk if i am just missunderstanding or what? but.... i can't miss Burning Man 2012... i Can't ..... like no if ands or buts. i CANNOT miss Burning Man 2012!!! i have been working so hard towards going. this trip literally has motivated me to get off my lazy ass and work for something. i have a job now because of this!!! and it has inspired me to take my artwork to the next level, because of burning man i am enrolling in welding and glass blowing classes. i love scuplting, it's my strongest skill in art and welding will take it to the next level i am seriously in love with this and the people and just EVERYTHING about it.... idk man... i don't know what to think anymore. i'm just worried i won't get to go... i really hope i am just high off my ass and i didn't understand the letter///////?/////)(////////:-(

Not all the info has been released yet; I think the stuff that was released was done in order to give people the news that they will need to register in a timely fashion during a span of two weeks, and to keep people from totally panicking (i.e., thinking there would be no event at all, which people were totally worried about because the theme has not yet been announced, and in recent years the theme was announced earlier).

But! We'll figure it out. There will be more news. Who knows what it'll be like.

I am still having a hard time accepting that all my work and preparation will be left up to a "chance/luck" draw that I can go. A lottery is a chance/luck game, no effort or brains can help you win. Sure, there will be a lot of "winners", but there will still be losers. I am not a gambler, my shop lights remain off, I let the heat go out....of my shop and my heart...sad.

Hey I have an idea--let's not change the way tickets are sold and not have the theme be CONTENTMENT.

Change is hard. Especially when we know that something is going to be different than what we are accustomed to. No, I did not enjoy spending an entire day trying to get tickets, having the ticket-selling system meltdown, etc... But, I was familiar with the process. Now, we know it is going to be some sort of lottery system. The word "lottery" makes me nervous, since now, according to my understanding of what lottery means, I might NOT get a ticket. Then again, I need to try and be patient, as I wait for details on the new ticket purchasing system.

People have complained about the old system, so it has changed. We are complaining about the new system, before we have even tried it.

In the end, we either attend, or not. There is always something I don't like about Burning Man. I doubt that will ever change

I think... don't announce until BMOrg has their shit together with all the details would have made more sense. All this does is screw with peoples plans. Too late for that now though. Damage done. BM2012 attendance may actually drop from last years. It's happened before.
