I'm the ultimate corporate whore.

Yes, I have used proactive in a sentence at a meeting.
There is even a program code named Proactive that I am involved in.

Being a whore for the man pays the bills quite nicely though. And my retirement will be pretty damn nice. I've trained them to put up with my 'quirks'. Like the 4 ft pink flamingo lawn ornament that pokes it's head out of my cube. Or the Spamelope that guards my lab bench.

Vacation demands

Post by Dardanian » Sun Aug 22, 2004 8:58 pm

Its amazing what a bit of certainty can do to a conversation! Last year was my virgin burn and I was working at an at-your-own-pace sort of job where no one relied on you. I put in my leave and was fairly limp-willed when they tried to cut back my vacation days.

Now I work in an ultra-high pressure quota based job which is far from meeting its goals. The culture is quite conservative and I am leaving during the last 3 days of the quota month. When they tried to cut back my vacation days this year, the death-stare I gave and cold certainty of my "I'm going, let me know if my job will be available when I get back..." sort of answer I gave worked wonders. They even offered me an extra day!

When you put in 70 hour work weeks (which I know many of my fellow burners do), you should be just as demanding of your time when YOU need it as your boss is about your time every other week of the year.

To crib Dennis Miller; Of course that's just my oppinion, I could be wrong.

Ok, this is getting simply ridiculous! Only two more days of work left and I cannot even pretend to do work! When people hand me new work I carelessly toss it on to the top of my teetering in-box with an intelligible comment and continue my scrolling of Eplaya topics and/or BM pics.

Ai-yup. 3 and a half days left for me. I swear I'm about to go homicidal if I have to sit at my desk any longer. I have too many things to do before I leave to just sit here doing pointless stuff.

Why don't they understand that? If they did they could just pay me to do whatever I want to do whenever I want to do it and I would be so much happier. Why isn't the world exactly the way I want it to be?

Oh, maybe that's cause I'm not actually the center of the universe.

Damn I hate it when reality rears its ugly head.

Blargh! I am wasting away of boredom in Corporate Hell!

Okay, maybe that was a tad melodramatic, but I am really bored today. Fridays are always so slow.

What sucks is knowing that hardly anybody is going to be on the eplaya on Monday while I'm still stuck here.

1 and 2/3 days left before I escape...

You and Joel could be in for some heavy bonding. And teasing of newbies looking for help with tickets. . .

Whaddya say Joel? You up for some bonding excercises?

*stands behind Joel with her arms out ready to try the trust falling game*

Okay, maybe that's not what you meant....

Is it okay to tease newbies looking for help with tickets if I'm a newbie who already has my ticket?

The unwritten ToS of e-playa conformity enforcement clearly says (on page 19) that anyone who is asking someone to provide them a burning man experience less than a week before the event gets pilloried, derogated, and mercilessly beaten down AND that in such a case if enough vetran e-playans aren't available anyone who's been on the board six weeks or made more than 50 posts (unless the preponderance of those posts are proof of idieocy as definined in section 72.0023) may torment in their stead. Plus, who's gonna stop you anyway?
