make burning man invite only

Postby lemur » Mon Nov 14, 2011 4:19 am

how about we avoid this whole ticket lottery problem by making burning man invite only..

here is the solution to all of the problems that exist:

give access to tickets via invitation only to all staff, volunteers, contract workers, theme camps and artists, cafe performers, conclave and mutant vehicle creators and low income people.

that way all people building projects get to go and they can keep working

then, once all of those people are in.. then you open lottery tickets to the people who arent working on anything "official"

PROBLEM SOLVED, everyones happy!!! (heh)

burnier than thou people get in so they dont have to freak out about projects

noobs get /a chance/ at getting in..

(ok no not really..)

That seems fair, because the wealthy can afford to pay and actually create anything with their hands if they must, so they are included.

In these times, everyone else is low income, so they are included.

Problem solved.
You're a genius! (ok, no not really..)

Quit pickin' on the new eplaya members, okay? We want them to shave their balls & fiddly bits! Sheesh!
I'm the MAN in a truck, burner who is stuck, you're in luck! I'll whip out my BIG tow chain and not charge you, not even one lousy buck!

I collected all the 2 cents from the panic thread and I am now no longer part of low income people. I guess I am royally screwed!

What about those who have never been and have no connections? Not a bad idea... I agree they should make tickets readily available for those who have been loyal to BM for years (assuming they have a way to tell), and perhaps use this "lottery" system for newcomers.. but an elitist event, just won't fly.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realised that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me.

5 gallons of gasoline and a road flare. Much cheaper than a ticket.

I wonder what (perhaps small) percentage of the total population we are that even give a shit about tickets and prep at this time of the year. Thousands will poke their heads up in June and ask how to get tickets.
Oh, do not ask, “What is it?”
Let us go and make our visit.

I think 5 gallons may be excessive. I'm lady size.
